Question about KitchenAid KP2671 Professional 6 Series Stand Mixer

2 Answers

No power sometimes

It usually stops part way through kneeding bread dough. Sometimes it does not start at all, but a few minutes later it will be working fine.

My external power cord is intact, but the power intermittently fails on my 525 Watt Professional 6 KitchenAid stand mixer.

I'd approach this like any electrical problem. Start at the outlet, verify it's working right & grounded properly. Then move to the unit. Assuming the outlet is fine, you'll need a multi-meter & insulated gloves to do the rest. Do not attempt this unless you understand the risk involved, includes possible electrocution!! Put the insulated gloves on for this & don't let anyone touch you during this, also never touch metal with your bare skin while doing this either. With it plugged in, remove whatever is needed to get to the switch. Make sure there's no attachments connected too. Then set the meter to a/c volts. Ground the black lead to the chassis of the mixer, not the outlet, then take the red lead & check for power to the switch. Should be only one wire "hot" & that should read 110-120v or 220-240v if it's a commercial mixer. If that checks out, keep the lead grounded & move to the other wires that have no electricity going to them with the switch off. Turn the switch on & check for power to the other wires while trying different speeds. All should get power at some point while testing. The voltage will be less than the main voltage in,because it steps the voltage down for slower speeds. You may have to repeat these steps until it acts up again. If the switch never malfunctions, then the problem is either a built in circuit breaker that's weak, bad brushes for the motor, or a faulty capasitor (on commercial units). I didn't include wire colors & such because this a general procedure for diagnosing anything running on a/c current. I'm not personally familiar with that model, however these are the same steps an electrician or a repair guy is going to take. Hope this helps & if you're the least bit leary about messing with electricity, don't, call a repair service.

Kitchenaid 525 stopped working while mixing cookie dough

Let it completely cool and then start again. It overheated because your speed was set too low for the heaviness of the dough. I have burned up three kitchenaid stand mixers so far making bread. go up one setting at least; if it is straining, go up another.

Is 300 w mixer powerful enough to mix bread dough?

Your mixer is easily able to handle the kneading of bread dough. Please advise:

9 cups of all purpose white flour, maximum.

6 cups of specialty flour, maximum. This is any flour besides all purpose white.

Bread doughs are only to be needed on speed 2, and never for longer than 7 minutes.

This is all stated in the Use and Care guide for the mixer itself. If these guidelines are not followed, it may lead to a product failure.

Used the bread kneading hook, after 10 minutes, smoking

The mixer motor has probably overheated, as proper use and care was not being followed with the stand mixer.

Bread doughs are recommended to be mixed on speed 2 only and never for longer than 7 minutes. With the resistance of a bread dough that is provided against the beater, mixing for over 7 minutes may overheat mixer and cause smoking.

Please consult your use and care guide to refresh your memory about how to properly use your mixer for making bread doughs.

KSM5PS won't turn under load

Hi. Remove the top cover and look for the plastic transmission housing, it's toward the front of the machine. Look for cracks in this housing. If the housing is cracked, remove it and look for further damage to the worm gear assembly and the bearings and bearing seats that support them. You'll have to remove some of the grease to inspect the parts. If you're lucky, only the trans. housing will need replacement. If, like me, you're not so lucky, you may have to replace the housing, wormgear assembly, bearings and re-work the bearing seats so that the new bearings fit properly. Although Kitchenaid advertises that their mixers can easily handle bread dough, the truth is...They can't. This scenario happened to me and I had to replace all of the above. Be prepared to wait a month or more before your parts arrive. Specify that you want the METAL trans. housing. I'm still waiting (6 wks.), for a single bearing. If this solution works for you, please rate my solution. Good Luck! ricardok45
