Use the blue and black wires of the timer to the black wires in your box. Cap the red wire with a wire nut as it will not be used in your application.

By the way, there is a recall on this product, Best check that out before installing.

Trying to install a Woods 59018 with older copper wiring - My house only has one black wire (not the two black wires it calls for).

1) It is safe, but not code.
The timer uses such a tiny amount of power that the installation is safe, and the line is still protected by circuit breaker.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-timers.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-household-electricity.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/See-inside-main-breaker-box.html

2) In the main breaker box, the neutral wires and ground wires are bonded together and both connect to ground wire leading out to pole and down into the ground.

3) By code a ground wire cannot be used as a neutral, even though both are connected together in the main box.
This is so electrician can work on ground wires while ASSUMING they do not complete a circuit.
NO ELECTRICIAN should assume that, since the purpose of ground wires is to ground stray current.

Need to know how to convert the three prong cord to a four prong cord

You will find a black, a red, a white and a green or copper wire in your new cord. You will find a place for a red, a black and a white wire on the terminal block in your machine. The green/copper goes to the frame of your machine. If there is no place to fasten it, drill a hole in the body and fasten the green/copper ground to the body with a 10/24 or equal nut and bolt with washer. It should be about 1 inch long to facilitate your installation process.

I trust this will help you solve your trouble

Wiring hookup

The 2 black wires on the hood go to the black from the wall. The 2 black on the hood is in case you want separate switches as 1 is for fan and 1 is for light. The green goes to the bare copper wire. Its the ground. And are you sure the wire is yellow? It should be white and connect to the other white. This is the neutral.
