Sounds like the audio circuit portion of your tv went out. You could ask Mitsubishi for a list of authorized Mitsubishi service centers in your area. It may be expensive to have it shipped, but it might be cheaper than buying another one.

Good Day, limao247;
Your TV may fluid on the PCB's. Remove the speaker grill, the small panel and look closely for fluid on the boards towards the front. Always unplug the TV for your SAFETY. If you find fluid clean board with acetone. Good Luck, big IRISH.
we recently cracked our lenticular screen on our 73 in mitsubishi i called the manufacturer and they said they no longer make them. so i looked thru websites to see if i could find some one with a 73 in tv or bigger that they were no longer using or didnt work and i found a guy on www.ksl.com that had an 80 inch tv and we went to go pick up screen cut it to my tv size and it worked!!.
If, in a dark room you can't even see the screen lit up, you have probably lost your high voltage driving the picture tubes and if the set is over 10 years old, I'm pretty certain that the parts will be no longer available -- that is one of my pet peeves about Mitsubishi. If you can see a grayish screen, then maybe there's a chance it could be repaired by a competent and dedicated technican.
