I have the same error code problem. I have tried holding down the power button while unplugging the unit and followed the instructions given, but the air conditioner works for about 2 seconds and then it turns off and the error code comes back on again.

The first is answer horribly wrong! This error has nothing to do with the fan nor is there a capacitor on the fan. U should know what ur talking bout so u dont mislead others.

An E1 error code on this unit means the sensor on the evaporator has malfunctioned. Unfortunately, the solution in the manual says to call the manufacturer who is out of business!

And a capacitor is an electrical storage tank, they dont "get stuck"!

Be certain you have it plugged directly into a ac socket , no surge protector or gfic protector.
the main fan should have come on first then the compressor.
if not the fan capacitor or the fan is stuck.
try reseting it by
for resetting the error code. Unplug unit, clean filter, HOLD DOWN power button and CONTINUE HOLDING while plugging unit back in. Unit will beep. Unplug again, plug back in and resume normal operation

I sometimes get an error when the unit is not on a very level part of the floor. No idea why this would cause a problem.

I need two fan blades (squirrel cages) for the lower blower on 2 windchaser air conditioners, cant find parts.

A lot of portable units come out of overseas factories that build a certain amount for production and sales. They rarely supply any parts for after sales service however, as a lot of these machines are co-branded with other manufacturers, you may be able to acquire fans from another manufacturer. The only problem is determining what model number they use. You could try having a look in a retail store and picking one that is exactly the same a s yours but may be a different brand. You need to be definite though. Often the knobs, stickers, filter covers etc are different but when you have a very close look at the main parts such as the body mouldings, air inlet and outlet positions etc. You will soon pick which ones are the same machine, just different Brand..

Turns off showing E5

Unfortunately, unless you still have the Owner's Manual for you unit, you may never know what the E5 error code indicates. Windchaser went out of business about 4 or 5 months ago. And with them went any and all information about their AC units and other products they manufactured & sold. In addition, unless, it's an interchangeable part, there are no Windchaser OEM parts available at this time.

Amazingly, there are some retailers that still have the units for sale, but are not telling the customer that the company is out of business. I guess they just don't want to get stuck with the discontinued units.

I wish I had better news & information for you. But, it is what it is.

Unit shuts off, getting an E5 error. sounds like there is a lot of water inside. the customer service numbers for Windchaser are disconnected. PLEASE HELP!!!!

E5 is the fault code for Compressor overheat/malfunction it coulb be caused by the exhaust hose being too long or kinked, remove the exhaust hose and run the unit for an hour and see if your problem goes away, if so re-route the exhaust hose, if not you need to contact the manufacture

ERROR MESSAGE

The e-5 error message is caused by overheating. I had the same error messager a few months ago.
The problem was the air vent on the left side of the unit was clogged with fuzz from the carpet and dust which had accumulated over a two year period.
To fix the problem use a vacuum hose with a brush and try to get the bristles underneath the plastic grill and vacuum the metal radiator type unit underneath the plastic.
When the air vent is cleaned the unit will resume normal operation.
I had to (finally) unplug the unit and take it outside and clean the vent with a waterhose to get all of the gunk out. I also purchased a sheet of charcoal filter (a few dollars) and velcro and put my own makeshift filter on the outside of the housing over the air vent on the left side.
