If it worked briefly then stopped, it's probably faulty with a heat sensitive component. Switch it off overnight and see if it works next day. If it fails again after 10 mins, get a new one.

Staus led not blinking after a fw update

You are going to have to find a software that helps you force reinstall the Firmware. Something went wrong somewhere, I know the software exists, i used it to install a 3rd Party Firmware on my linksys to gain Access Point Functionality

The wireless side work but the hard wired side

would you confirm if it is just the wired side that drops the connection - that would make a bit of difference
I would make a note of the router settings and then do a factory reset theres a button or hole on the back that you hold for 10-20secs
Full manual is available from this link http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=316 clcik on the "support resources" button choose country and then choose the version
Heres a link to the basic DI-525 http://www.dlink.com/products/?tab=3&pid=DI-524&rev=DI-524
clcik on the product manual to get the full manual details Its possible it may be fixed with a firmware upgrade - also available from those links

Hi, DI-524

The final solution is a factory reset of your router. You can do a factory reset by logging into the router using you browser. Go to the settings and perform a factory reset

If you forgot the router password, you ill have to do a factory reset by locating a small hold on the back of the router and insert the tip of of paper clip for about 10 seconds while the power is on. The router will be reset to out of box status and then you can ssets-up form scratch.

D-Link DI-524 is not communicating with modem

Checklist:
* Is DHCP configured correctly?
* Connect your server and laptop to a switch (not directly with the cable)
* Can they ping each other?
* Check that the firewall is configured (or switched off if you have another FW in place)
* Default gateway should be your router, not the computers (until you have configured RRAS for example)

I have a WRT54G-TM with a flashing green power light

factory reset the router and update the firmware on the device prior to configuring it for anything else. Once updated and able to login consistantly, you should be ok.

Latest fw code is:

01/09/2008
Ver.5.00.38

and can be located here:
