have used smoker 3-4 times and loved it, got ready to use it again, the digital thermometer works normal, but the element does not heat. do i need to replace the element?

I have used my masterbuilt smoker 4 times. Today I turned it on and heated it up to 230 degrees. I opened the door and put in the ribs and it would not get over 170 degrees.

Same thing happened to me. I talked to Masterbuilt tech support, they said it needs a new heater element, which is > $100. Hope that you're still under warranty...

Need more info. did it use to work? try taking off the access panel to see if something is lose or looks burnt, possibly a circuit breaker inside the unit or house has tripped?

I have a deep fryer that heated up before i put the oil in it now it wont heat up with the oil in it

The liquids in it act as a heat sink and prevent it from damaging itself All electrical appliances have a thermal cutoff to prevent fires. Replace it and try again next year. :)

My heating element is not working. How can I get a replacement.

I experienced the same problem. My heating element was not working. After a Continuity Test, the Heating Coil was dead and needs replacement. I asked Masterbuilt if any heating coil replacement parts were available. They said "no", but they could offer a discounted sale on a new Smoker for about $175.00. I am still looking. A local appliance dealer said the internet was the most likely place to find one. After looking on the internet, I can't seem to find one yet. If you know of any, please let me know. Call (616) 772-1332 and ask for Bob. Thanks

Will not heat

You have a faulty wire or bad heating element, I will bet that it is a wire broken or burned apart. Open the unit and check the wiring from the case to the element and check if it is not severed or burned apart.
