Question about Galileo 600 x 50 Astronomical/Terrestrial (600 x 50mm) Telescope

1 Answer

How to use the parts

The telescope does not have any instructions with it. Can't figure out how to use the parts. Image in the attached piece on the scope is upside down.

Is there an instruction manual for this telescope?

Put the small diagonal into the back of the telescope; then put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the diagonal. Practice focusing on a distant object during the day time.

You have the eye piece which must be trimmed and set to your vision and it is only logical that you are able to focus on the object in question to adjust the focal for a clear sharp image.

You may be able to call Galileo telescopes and order the parts.

If not and if the eyepiece is a 1.25 inch (measure the hole in the focuser), then you can buy eyepieces and weights from several different retailers on-line:

The screw you can find at a well stocked hardware store.

All astronomical telescopes show upside down images-- no up or down in space!

You can buy one of these to ERECT the image-- make sure you get the correct barrel size usually 1.25 inch although some of those TASCO scopes are .965 inch. Measure the hole--

Pray, this was the clencher! No, you do not remove the piece already attached. The attachments to snap on but it takes help from above. Truly.

I can't see out ofscope

An inverted image is what you should see. Astronomical telescopes show an upside down image in the eyepiece. If you want to use your scope terrestrially you can add an erecting prism at the eyepiece.

Orion sells the camera T-RING and lens adapter-- and any other focuser parts you need-- look around their site and then call them.

Not worth repairing-- a new focuser for your telescope would cost as much or more than the telescope-- unless you can find a discarded telescope of the same model..... for parts.
