Dual Deck VHS Cassette Recorder

Timer will not record after setting it. I have a GV-4010/GV-4100 Dual-Deck Video Cassette Recorder and I cazn set the time for it to come on at a certain time, date and everything but then it doesn't record the program that I want. Can you please help me or tell me where in Dallas,
Texas I can get it fixed. I bought it at Wal-Mart year ago and of course they don't carry them any more. Can I get it fixed or do you have one on hand that I could buy because I like to duplicate VHS tapes all the time.

Thanking you in advance for any help you can give me.

The best way to find someone in Texas, would be to go to the bottom of this fixya site and click on "repair directory".
Then click on tape recorder repair.
You will see a business in Corpus Christi and others.
Hope this helps you.

Does the deck have an input for a microphone?

If not, buy a microphone pre-amp. Or a recorder that has one built-in.

I want to transfer material from video cassette to dvd. I have a Sony cassette recorder slv- se610g and a sony dvd recorder rdr-gx3. Can you please tell me how?

Though Connection details are available in DVD recorder User Manual, yet here is procedure. Find Video Audio Out terminal on Cassette Recorder SLV-SE610G and hook Yellow-Red-White cable in matching color pins and other end of cable will hook in Video Audio Input terminals at DVD Recorder RDR-GX3 and please note, same color pins will be hooked. Insert desired VHS cassette in VCR and push Playback. select input source at DVD Recorder and confirm playback picture and sound of vcr at TV. Now system is ready to record VHS movie on DVD.
If you need further info, please post back here.

My Sony dual tape deck does not record in stereo anymore.

Oxide deposits on heads can restrict audio transfer to tape. You may need to do a deep cleaning of record head. Depending on how much deposits are on heads may need no more than alchohol and Q-tip. Be sure to clean erase head and drive roller. Afterwards, try recording, then use headphones in jack on recorder to check for recording on both channels. If this works, problem is not in rest of equipment set up. If you still need help, email me
