PC Connection problems with TV LE40R8

My Samsung LE40R8 keeps shutting down when I change to PC, when my laptop is connected to it via a serial cable. How do I get the PC connectionto work correctly.

Thanks

I've managed to fix this problem with my setup - A Tranquil T2-WHS-A3 using the built in SiS 662 Mirage 1 IGP.

I had the same issue. When I connected the computer to the scren using the vga lead, the screen would power off. I tried a number of different (in spec) resolutions - all the same result. Note that this computer worked fine with two other monitors.

I have now put a KVM between the computer and the monitor. This KVM is serving no pupose but getting in the way! However, it now works!

My guess is that either my video card is outputting slightly over the spec voltage on one or more of the vga lines, or the TV is being picky and wanting lower than the max spec. With the KVM in the way, some of the voltage is dropped across and so it works.

One thing to note I still can't get the largest spec resolution (1360 x 768) to work. but 1024x768 and 1152x864 do work.

Hope this helps!

I would like to connect my my hp laptop to my Sony Grand WEGA KDP-57WS550 57 in. Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television to watch netflix

You need to connect your PC to either your TV or your receiver. Also, if you have XBox, you can watch Netflix through it (thought I'd suggest, just in case).

Take your PC (or take a photo of your available outputs from your PC) and a photo of your available inputs (on your TV or receiver) to Best Buy or similar computer store. They can help you learn which connections you need.

Most likely you'll need a DVI to HDMI cable for video, and maybe a separate audio cable from your headphone connection on your PC to your TV (or receiver). You'll only need a separate cable for audio if your HDMI input on your TV does not support audio.

I am going through this same problem with my TV connecting Apple TV. I am checking now whether my old rear projection tv's HDMI input supports audio (same as yours). I've connected Apple TV to my rear projection TV. I have video, but no sound. Either my TV doesn't support HDMI audio, or I need to change a setting on the TV to enable that sound to work. If the TV does not support HDMI audio, I will need to connect Apple TV directly to my receiver via a digital optical cable for sound.

Hope this helps.

TV Question??? Samsung HLN4365W

its either the wire connection CN108 on the DMD is loose or the DMD or power supply is defective. I ten d to believe its the connection since it works sporadically. If replugging the connector doesnt solve the problem you may need to do a step by step diagnostics. Do you have the training manual for the samsung DLPs its actually a very easy process to diagnose with the training manual.

HDMI connection

It is possible that the DVD player is not outputing through the HDMI connector, or the TV has a problem with the HDMI input on the input board. This would have to be properly checked.

Start by calling the tech support for the DVD player to know if there is a setting for this, or if the player is defective.

Then check to make sure that there are no settings in the menu for the TV and player that are keeping the HDMI turned off.

If all else fails, call the tech support for your TV set. The next step will be that you must get the set serviced.

Samsung LCD TV not receiving PC signal

Check your vga cable. Some cables have only 14 pins, some have all 15. The missing pin is pin 9, in the 15 pin cable it carries 5v from the graphics card to the screen. Without that 5v signal most LCD and Plasma television screens won't recognise a PC input. I had the same problem and only managed to fix it when my girlfriend swapped a cable over for me and as she did so glanced inside and said "it's got a bit missing" The cable that came with your PC most likely only has 14 ins as that is all a monitor screen needs.
You can buy a 15 pin cable at most PC or electronic shops, just check that isdoes have all 15 pins befiore you buy it. The cheap ones are just as good as the expensive ones unless you are buying 20 foot cable. For 6 foot cable the cheap ones are just as good as the expensive ones.

you have the same problem I have. The problem is fixed by changing the new light bulb. The problem appears again after 1500 hours of use. You can keep buying new light bulbs or avoid it by not buying another Samsung TV.
