We moved our Kitchenaid refrigerator down the steps to the basement using a dolly and now its running constantly.

I can't think of any reason moving it would cause that problem. How are your door seals? Are both fans(evaporator fan in freezer and condenser fan at compressor)working? Did you give it 24 hours for temps to stabilize?

If the shock absorbers under the compressor are damaged or loose there can be a lot of different noises but I have never heard it referred to as a motor racing.

A motor racing sound would be more like a fan motor going berserk and not keeping a constant speed. Since the compressor fan is located in the area of the sound you might want to take a look at it and see if it is keeping a constant speed.

Sounds like the exhaust fan is not working. There's an electric blower at the back of the unit that forces air out through the exhaust vent. Unplug the unit, pull the vent off the back, and see if you can reach in and touch the fan blades and make them move. If it won't move something is probably caught in there. You may need to take off the back of the unit and remove the housing cover to the fan assembly in order to really tell what's going on, but it sounds like your fan has an obstruction. It could also be that the fan motor is fried but that seems less likely. Remember to have the unit unplugged, there's some dangerous voltage inside.

The freezer suddenly was not keeping the food frozen. I had to move the food to another freezer. What do I do now? The refrigerator part seems to be working fine.

well why wouldn't you fix the freezer . . was there frost in the back of freezer on back wall . if so you have a defrost problem . were the fans going . the one under neath / i have seen a mouse get caught in fan and stoped the cooling .. / so clean the coil underneath and make sure the fan is going . also the one in the freezer and if not replace it . now if compressor is not going you might need a tec but major problem and not always the cause so kep it simple . ck th small things first .. mm

I bought a side by side today from a friend and it was working fine got it home and now its not cooling??

Did you lay it on its side? This can cause a freon restriction, sometimes you can save it by unplugging it for a few days and then testing it again. Also check to see if you bent the condensor fan blade or bracket when you used a shipping dolly to move the refrigerator. Remove the backing panel on the lower back of the refer and make sure the fan is running. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists.

If you are relating to the fan that is with the compressor, DO NOT RUN UNIT WITHOUT THIS FAN RUNNING. You can overheat the compressor and kill it. Some of these units use small plugs on the fan wires and it could have been pulled loose when the unit was moved. If you find the plug, be sure it is plugged in physically. Don't trust it just because it looks like it is plugged in. It may not be making a good connection.

Refrigerator/Freezer not getting cold

Is the fan on the condenser coils spinning? (back side of unit behind the bottom access panel.)

If it is not, the heat extracted from the fresh food/freezer compartments is not being sufficiently dissipated.

As a short-term fix, you can aim a box fan (a regular ol' room/window fan) at the condenser coils.

Heater won't start

Thanks for your question,
Sounds to me like you have a faulty fan in the unit, could be stuck, or might be a bad fan motor, try unplugging it first, find something to insert where the fan is and try spinning the blade, if its stuck or has alot of resistance, then you have a bad motor, if its free spinning, then try plugging it back in and see if it works, sometimes just by manually moving the motor shaft it frees it to work, if it still doesnt work, then you might look at replacing the fan motor, or replacing the unit, hope this helps ya,

How to examine MFF2557HES evap fan?

Yes, if you're not afraid of removing service panels and replacing parts, then this is something that you can probably replace without too much trouble. Very straightforward, just remove the fan motor assembly & screw a new back into it's place. And yes, that sounds very probable if you've already tried defrosting the machine first.
