I just call the warrenty service (1-877-250-8595) on the same problem. They have you connect it to your computer, turn on Windows Media Player, Find your Gigabeat on the L. column (under the playlist and library). Then you R click the gigabeat and click on Format. My format was greyed out. So they had be turn off the battery (tiny black switch beside the USB port) wait a min, turn it back on and try the same thing. Format still wasn't an option for me and so he said I had some other hardware problem. So since it's been barely over a year we'll have to pay to have someone fix it. The phone # for the over warrenty repair is 1-978-374-9877. I don't know about you but this problem started for me right after they my gigabeat installed some automatic update which I'd think they'd be able to fix or take the blame for upload all their customers with faulty software.

first i went to this is the site where i found the firmware restore thing
on the list you go to Gigabeat V Firmware Update 1.5
so it should give you two links download the second one its called GigabeatSRecover.rar
now the programs in Japanese or Korean not sure but i couldn't read it luckily they have pictures YAY FOR PICTURES!!! any ways its gonna tell you to turn off your battery then connect the charger once it asked you to connect the S30 to the pc the program is gonna say connect on the right hand bottem and start to download the firmwear in to it then its gonna tell you to dissconnect the S30 from the pc afther doing that youll get a message saying updating firmwear or something like taht do not reset it once thats over its done itll be as good as new every thing you had in it will be retored including songs pictures videos every thing well be back but there will be one lil diffrence to it if you had any songs that were written in japanese it wont show them any more itll just be a black space there but theyll be there thats the only thing that will change other than that every thing will be back the way it was

Wireless connection problem

if you are sure you didn't changed the password on the wifi router and it stopped working itself try restoring the system to the date it was working fine, but little caution all the settings/ programs installed after the restore date will be lost

Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.
choose the date ie. bold and on which it was working fine and follow instructions

if you think the info given by me was helpful please do rate me

Wireless problem

What operating system are you using? Windows Xp or Vista?
Eaither way I advise you to Restore the system back to the day that it worked. If you remember what day it was still working, go under start - programs (or all programs in Vista) - accessories - System Tools - System Restore. At this point select "Restore my computer to an earlier time". Select the date, like 1 or two months ago (wathever date you remember it was working) and proceed. This tool leaves all your data and information untouched, but uninstall all the software you installed since that point. In Windows Vista, after you click continue to start the restore, it takes a while until it does something. It's normal don't worry.

Apple ipod 1gb locked and dont know the combination and cant sync

Connect it to the computer you normally sync with.

Open iTunes then disconnect the iPod.

If that doesn't work you can "hard reset" by restoring it to factory defaults. Doing this also erases everything you have on it so you will lose your movies, music, files, etc.

Connect it to the computer and open iTunes.

Click "Restore" and select "Restore" or "Restore and Update" to make sure you're on the latest firmware.

Good luck.

Toshiba gigabeat MES30VW

i'm thinking the hard drive is messing up... you know when i dropped my gigabeat S30 it wasn't working n it was freezing and the video files weren't playing at all. it would freeze when i turn on or play video. then i turned it off and then back on using the battery switch. it said "contact the manufacturer for repair" with a yield sign. i really thought i killed it...but i still had my hopes high to fix it myself somehow n i really thought it was from the hard drive. so i took it in my hand and gave it a shake on my palm. like i actually hit it on my palm for once n then i turned it on and it worked =D fineee.... i was so happy n now it still works fine ;)

i hope that helps
