Question about Dacor Preference SGM365SS Gas Cooktop

Ignitors clicking happened b4, but eventually went away. I know when I cleaned b4 I had this problem but it seem to go away after it dried out. I thought I kept it dry, but I guess not. These ignitors will not ******* short of unplugging the stove. Will this wear out the ignitors? Will it evewntually go away like b4? Make it stop!!!

Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the electrical outlet that the stove is plugged into.
Residue from food and sometimes cleaning products may be preventing the igniter from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. This is a common problem that occurs when the stove has been cleaned or food is allowed to build up. Make sure that the igniter and the burner base are clean and dry. This will help with proper operation. Oven cleaner and a small tooth brush may be used to accomplish this. Another problem with ignition may occur if you have too little (touching) or too much space between the igniter and the base of the burner; it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the igniter. A good “blue” arc from the igniter to the burner base is optimal. If this doesn’t work, you may need to replace the electric igniter module. Good luck.

We have a GE free-standing range top. I spilled water everywhere when my pot overflowed, and the clicking noise will not stop. All burners burn though, what to do?

This is a very common problem when moisture comes in contact with the ignitor. The ignitor sometimes stays in one position causing the clicking sound. it will eventually wear itself out. Best thing to do is try to take it apart, clean it, dry it and adjust it if necessary. If that doesn't work for you, then the ignitor may have to be replaced. Good luck

I have a similar problem with my GE Profile stove

one of the ignitor switches is shorted out.sometimes it is moisture inside and it happens after boilover or spraying some liquid for cleaning.remove the knobs and try a hair dryer to dry them or leave the unit unplugged for some days.it should work fine after this ,if not then the bad switch needs to be replaced.always avoid boilovers and spraying any cleaning liquid for cleaning.

Ignitor sparks continuously

Hi, How long ago did you get the ignitors wet? Most cases, unplug the range for a few hours giving it time to dry out. Maybe set a fan near the range top to help dry it. This helps MOST of the time. please let me know if it helps or if I can assist you further.

Hi

It seems like you got water into the ignitor switches on under the knobs. Sometimes it takes 48 hours for this to dry out. Or you can pull the knobs and use a hair dryer on to dry out the switches. Also you can try to clean it. Please refer to the link and picture: e11b706.gif Please do accept the solution and revert for further assistance. Thanks Rylee

Sounds like you got water into the ignitor switches on under the knobs. Sometimes it takes 48 hours for this to dry out. Or you can pull the knobs and use a hair dryer on to dry out the switches. Personally I just advise pulling the plug and wait. This is a common issue with gas cooktops and can also happen with liberal use of cleaning products sprayed in the know area.
