Question about HHB CDR850 CD Recorder

HHB CDR-850 Professional loading problem

Perhaps someone can clue me in on a loading problem with this unit. When I load a blank CD into the loading tray and close the door, it will eject the known good CD about three seconds later. I tried various other CD's and made sure it is seated correctly in the tray. I cleaned the laser head and blew it out with canned air. Found nothing jammed in the loading unit. Any help would be appreciated.

Mine does the same thing, whether it be ore recorded (commercial) or a blank disk. The drawer opens, then closes again by itself, then opens a second time and displays the message 'CHECK'.

I really need to know how to sort this probelm out (apart from shelling out another wad for a new CD recorder)

I had the same problem with mine. The manual says to unplug it from the power and plug back in. That did'nt seem to correct anything. I also was having an issue with recording. It would'nt record data for tracks and recording would scramble. I had this burner for 10 years and loved it untill last night when it crapped out on me completely. I am VERY disappointed!

HHB CDR 850-No laser lit up...shouldn;t there be light ie. laser

YesI when the unit is first turned on the laser will emit a red light when scaning, if no beam is present it is time to replace your player, not cost effective to repair.

Hi, I have an HHB Burn-It CDR 830. Whenever I'm recording, along about the 5th track in- the player starts to fuzz out. The time stutters/freezes momentarily, and then continues normally for a while...

If it's always around the same physical location on a given CD it would have to be a physical problem with the transport, not the lens.

Esoteric but comprehensive advice....

Noise / Hum in recordings

hi, i once had the same problem with a kenwood cassette deck. it would play pre-recorded tapes perfectly but when it came to recording from another source i would get an annoying hum when playing back the recording, the fault turned out to be a faulty earth connection on the phono connectors on the rear, they were dry jointed and once resoldered the unit worked and the recordings were perfect. maybe you have the same problem? hope this helps?

HHB-830 CD TRAY does NOT open.

It's made for HHB by Pioneer, you could try one of their agents?. Opening up is fairly straightforward if you are methodical and take your time if you need to. There is a test mode sequence you can try - hold down the 'menu/delete' and 'auto/manual' keys together for 5 seconds until the display blinks all the lights then press the stop button. Now ONLY press the open / close button - pressing any other keys will change settings and without the service manual you won't know what you're changing. Press stop then power it off to exit.

I can email you the service manual if you need it. It sounds like a gear has come loose inside to me. I strip these machines for parts quite regularly so may be able to help you out if you're able to work out what if anything is broken but I'm in the UK. It may be as simple as a belt has come loose :-)
