Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

My frigidaire washer/dryer combo is leaking a lot of water out of the bottom. it looks to me like the leak may be coming from the tub right behind where the screw goes to mount it to the bottom bracket thingy. I'm not sure how to go about disassembling the tub to locate the problem. what can i do?

The leak could be coming from a worn tub seal and the worst case scenario is the one you mentioned, a broken tub itself. Please specify the exact model number of the washer for specific and accurate troubleshooting guide.

Unfortunately, we bought this set used and I believe the label which had the model number was peeled off at some point.
Here is what I think happened, when I took the front of the unit off to find the leak the front screw that attaches the tub to the bracket was off. I think as a result of running the machine in this condition the tub sunk down and was rubbing against said bracket which created the leak.
I realize that this probably means I'm in deep sh--. My question is, is their any type off waterproof sealant or some kind of temporary solution I can try to keep this machine going for now? Or do I have to replace the tub or, worse, the entire machine? Any advice would be appreciated as I am not in a financial position to replace anything major in the near future.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

An epoxy should do as it does on my own washer few years way back until this moment. Just make sure it fully hardens before running the machine and secure the tub to the bracket with the fallen screw to prevent the rubbing scenario. Should the screw can no longer be fixed to the tub, the tub definitely needs replacement which will then require the exact model number of the washer for the specific part number.

Why is water leaking from bottom of double stack fridgidaire washer/dryer combo?

Thank you for your post, friend!

From the information you have provided your Frigidaire laundry center is leaking water from the bottom after a day or so. It sounds like you have a slow leak and this could be in your drain line, drain pump, or gasket. I would advise you to review your gasket and drain hose to make sure there is no visible crack or wear that water could be leaking out of. If you do not see any apparent leaks it could be an issue internally and this is not a simply DIY job. You may need to request the assistance of a professional technician for proper disassembly of your laundry center. I hope this information has been helpful. -Matt

How to clean drain pump frigidaire front loading washer gltf2940fs2

Remove the bottom access panel by removing the almost two hidden screws along the bottom. The pump is located on the right. Remove the two hoses and two screw that mount the pump to the base. Clean away. Reattach hoses and screws. TEST unit with panel off to check for leaks. The hoses can be a pain to get on right. Also beware water caught in tub and drain hose will leak out. Bring towels. Lots.

It leaks water after its about half full does it have a hole in the tub?

I doubt if the tub has a hole in it, BUT the increased pressure and weight of the half filled tub could force water past a damaged washer. How did the washer get damaged, probably by the spin bearing starting to fail.

Items 21 and 26 are the parts that I would suspect.

My washer is leaking from the bottom as if there is a seal that is worn out. what do I do How do I get the tub out to replace the seal

If this is a front loading machine. The bolts on the drum case have most likely loosened. Remove the rear cover to access the bolts. After tighten the bolts run the machine to make sure this was the problem.

Where is my leak coming from?

Your machine has a bottom access panel. Remove the panel and run the unit. This will help determine where the leak is.
