The igniter is designed to spark at all the burners, no matter which valve is turned on. Once it is lit, turn the gas valve to low med or high settings. If it still sparks after you have turned the valve, it may have gotten wet. Did you recently clean it? Let it dry out for a few hours. Or is this a new unit? Is it still under warranty? Call the manufacturer for free warranty repair.

Burner don't light no spark

the starter module that controls the TICK/TICK spark, is located in the main board, Digital Clock. To access it slide out the stove, screws are in the back, panel access and you will see the wires going into it, just take out the old board and replace with the new one. Not hard to do, my board was 200, but a new stove was 900. you can light it with a BBQ lighter for $2. My oven kept shutting off.

Gas Range Repair Burners Keep on Clicking

The clicking that normally just goes to start your burners is not stopping. They just keep on with the tick, tick, ticking….. What can go wrong that will make them keep on doing this?

There are a few possibilities for this problem. The first one is that the little switch that is behind the burner knob either went bad or got water in it. To isolate the switch that is the problem you can pull one of the wires off of behind the burner knobs one at a time till it stops. That one is the one that is bad.

If you have just washed down the stove top then you may have water in it that is making it continue to click. Let everything dry out over night and see if that fixes it. A hair dryer can be used to speed up the process.

If you pull a wire from each switch and it still goes on, then the spark module is bad. You will need to replace it.

Be aware that it is normal for all the burners to spark whenever another one is being lit.

Excessive dirt and grease can cause the burners to light hard but will not cause the spark module to keep on sparking all the time. If a burner lights hard, check the tip of the spark electrode to make sure it is clean.

If your spark module has burnt out to rapidly, or needs to be constantly replaced, you may not have a properly wired and grounded receptacle. Reversed polarity or not being grounded can cause the spark module to fail prematurely. Make sure that you do not use a two pronged outlet or extension cord for your range.

If all else fails you can always unplug the range to get the sparking to stop. You can light the burners with a charcoal grill lighter or a match if you do it carefully. Turn the burner to full on and then slowly go towards the burner keeping the flame as low to the top as possible till the burner lights.

Top gas cooking range continues to make the ticking sound ( tick-tick-tick) even when all burners are off. There is sparking at all the burners too with the sound, I have removed the electrical plug f

This seems like the burner control valves are not functioning properly. The rear is still working properly so without knowing brand I would say the control valves are defective.

I was just cleaning my cooktop and now I'm getting a constant ticking noise. I turned all burners on, left them on a short time, turned them off and it's still making the fast ticking noise. Is...

what that clicking is , is the ignitor trying to light the burner, its electronic, and if it continues it will eventually burn out, more than likely what happened is that moisture from cleaning got into the knob and control for that specific burner, and needs to dry out before it burns out, , you can try turning that one burner on and off a few times o see if that shuts it down, if it doesn't,, unplug the unit, and wait until it dries out on its own

We changed out the battery on the starter and now when we try to start we are getting a ticking noise but the grill is not starting I've used a normal AAA battery-is that correct? What else can it...

The ticking noise doesn't mean your getting spark. Open the grill and look inside (gas off) and look for a spark when you push the starter. There should be a spark gap, if its not sparking look for a piece of food or fat stuck between the burners and the starter probe.

Ignitors keep making ticking sound, all burners turned off, won't go in lock position, and one burner will not ignite gas despite constant ticking

Probably a spillage or boil over has clogged the burner and some of the liquid has dampened the shank switch mounted on the burner post. Get a shop vac and clean the burner. Wait a day or 2 and see if the switch stops. OR disable the ticky ticky by removing the bottom drawer and looking for the spark module. Remove one of the hot wires and tape it up. Light the burners like granny does with a match. LOL

Gas burners are ticking

The ticking sound you hear is the electronic ignition which is located by each burner. When you turn a burner on the electronic ignition creates a spark which ignites the gas. Once the burner is ignited. turn the knob a bit further and the ticking will stop.
