Question about Denon Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I have a Denon av receiver 2310ci. I did all the proper connections between my tv and the receiver, but I still have to have the receiver ON to watch tv. The cable box and tv are still on, but the the information is not displayed or heard. Is there a specific hook up or option available through the receiver that will change that? I would like to watch tv through my cable box without having the receiver on. Please help.

To watch cable box without turning receiver ON, please hook cable box AV wires directly in TV AV input and select that AV input in tv with its remote to watch direct cable box in tv.
Your tv would have few AV inputs at rear, select any of them and plug cable box audio-video wires in that AV input of tv so that way you can watch cable box channels without having receiver On.
Hope this info will help you.

Hello, I'll try that. My system has all the hdmi wires built into the walls, new construction. My tv is over the fireplace and my system is all connected through the walls. I first have the co-axil cable and all the power cords going to my monster surge protector, then to the cable box, and then to the tv. My brother, also my contractor, setup my system. We don't understand why it's happening. I'll check to see the hookup myself and I'll get back to you tomorrow. Thank you : ) carrie-

OK, now do not pull HDMI cables from wall or some thing, just hook another spare HDMI cable in cable box and any other HDMI input of your tv, select that HDMI input in tv with its remote and watch cable box directly in tv without tuning receiver On.

How to connect a denon avr-e400 receiver to a televion

If the DENON has an HDMI output, and your TV has an HDMI input, then use a HDMI cable. Then, use the TV's remote-control to select "source" (or "input") as 'HDMI 2' or 'HDMI 3' (assuming that you have been using 'HDMI 1' to watch TV).

Connecting audio from pc to receiver.

What does your sound card have for audio outputs? Mine (M7250N Media Center) has all the expected 7.1 analog audio outputs AND a digital S/PDIF audio output that I run to my receiver's coaxial digital input.

Even if you have just 2-channel audio on your PC the headphone output can be used with an adapter that makes it conenct to a standard RCA audio cable. Run it to any available Linme Level input on the Denon. Get into your sound controls on the PC and make sure your Master Volume is unmuted and adjust whatever else applies to your machine that may affect the audio.

Your monitor is not really a player in this scenario.

No picture with cable to denon AVR-589

Long and painful answer!!! However, in the end, you need to bypass HDMI thru your receiver and go direct to the TV. Connect Digital Coaxial or Optical for audio to your receiver. Your version of HDMI in your receiver is not compatable with today's HDMI version. Yours is 1.1a and the current version is 1.3b going to 1.4. If you want detailed info as to "why", just google "HDMI 1.1 problems" you can read for hours! Sorry for the bad news! However, it is what it is. Hope this helps. If you need further help with setup, post a comment and I can give you further help.

Protection circuit operates when CD is played

are you playing a cd which you recorded at a higher level? if so, you are overdriving the amp. you may want to check some of the setup menu items which could contribute to this. it also could be caused by a driver or component in a speaker which is getting maxxed out, which is easier to do with the cd source than any other in some cases. denon protection circuits are quite sensitive. good luck
