I have the same model of dryer and the same problem and no experience in fixing any appliances. I took a few screws off the top and the front, opened the dryer by rotating it forward, and found a red button (a fuse or breaker?) close to what I figured would be the heat sink. Pressed the button, it clicked, and decided to put it all back together. First load worked fine, hopefully that was all it needed. Good luck and hope this is all you have to do too.

It's not difficult to replace the igniter if you can get to it, but accessing it sometimes is a bear. First check if the igniter ceramic piece is partially broken. You'll see a piece of it missing, and lying below it somewhere. When you turn on the dryer, does it not glow orange at all? These things need to be checked before you take it apart. If you do replace the igniter, do not touch the ceramic piece, it is very fragile and will shatter easily. Make sure you unplug the unit before taking it apart. Good luck.

I have a fisher & Paykel electric dryer. D-DE62T27D that works but won't dry. Any solutions? Thanks Rick

Disconnect the power source to your dryer before you conduct this or any other test. Either unplug the unit from the wall outlet, remove the appropriate fuse from the fuse box, or flip the appropriate breaker in the circuit breaker panel.

Dryer heating elements come in various shapes and sizes. They are all strung with a coiled wire made of a nickel and a chrome alloy. This wire receives, but resists, a controlled electric current and as a result, the wire heats up. The heat produced is used to heat and dry the clothes in your dryer.
Once you have gained access to your dryer's heating element, set your multimeter to the R x 1 resistance scale. Touch each meter probe and to one end of the element. If you receive a reading of infinite resistance, then your heating element is no longer functioning properly and you will have to replace it.

Heats when unit is not on

Same thing just happened to my DEGX1. I took it apart and one of the heating elements had broken and fell to the bottom of the metal case. I think it was creating a short to ground and making it heat. I removed the broken element wires and attached them back best I could and did a test run with no problems. It is not heating when off now either. searspartsdirect.com had the elements for $67 so I ordered a set and will replace both of them (part #395583). My dryer is only 4 years old and 3 weeks ago the driver belt broke. Irritating they can't make them last any longer these days.

My DEGX1 WILL ONLY AIR DRY NO HEAT ...VENTS ARE CLEAN

Heating element is probably fine. I had this problem repeatedly shortly after I purchased the machine. Remove the screws on the top of the machine by where you load it (1 on each side). Lift top front up a few inches to allow for the front panel to be removed or leaned forward to access front of inside of machine. After front panel is out of the way, locate the red button. Push it. You have reset the fuse for the heating element and the dryer will now produce heat.

This will likely happen repeatedly. Mine was happening abouut once a week. Eventually, I discovered that FP dryers are very sensitive and that they will only push their exhaust so far. Anything more than about 20 feet and the machine will think the line is blocked and will trip the fuse on the heating element. I purchased a part from Lowes (do not recall what it is called) that is essentially a self contained dryer vent. Its a small box that hangs on the wall right next to the dryer. Run the exhaust tube into the box which is has an inch of water in it. water collects the lint and the hot air escapes from the vents on the top of the box.

Never had the problem again.

Dryer NOt Drying

Check the unit and the vent pipe all the way to where it terminates for excess lent. This will make the unit cut out on thermal lockout but will reset itself after the unit cools down. If it did not reset, then the heating element has gone bad. You can fix them yourself but sometimes they can be a little difficult if you aren't mechanically inclined.

Dryer won't heat

I have a F&P dryer DEGX1 about three years old , followed kristi's advice and it worked. There are two screws holding the information panel on, inside there is a schematic with instructions on how to put the dryer in diagnostic mode and how to take the front panel off. i reset the breaker located at the bottom of the front panel on the heating element box and put it back together and it worked.
My vent cover outside was frozen shut and this caused the breaker to blow saving the heater elements, am changing the vent cover to a different design to prevent this happening again
