fault in the CD drive.Try and clean the lens eye , if the CD spins but does not read the data then it is possible that the drive is faulty.

Try the DVD disk in some other computer, to ensure that the disk itself is OK.
Try some other "known-good" DVD-disk in your Toshiba SD M1502 drive.

Or, spend $40 and purchase a brand-new, CD/DVD reader/writer, to replace the faulty device.

Your laser assembly has lost its ability over time to focus on the disk data. Time to go shopping since repair is not cost effective.

I have a insigma portable DVD and it freezes 10 minutes through the movie.

I'm very late to your question, but the problem is that this drive doesn't burn DVDs (i.e., it was not designed to do that). It's a CD-RW, DVD-ROM (read only).

You can not fix this problem because the player does not read dvd recordable disks

Its actually in the troubleshooting manual. Pg 126. Try putting in the disk with the label face up, that might work too,

i think your problem is that your lens( laser lens) that reads the disk is dirty. Try this get q-tip and put just little rubbing alcohol and clean the lens.
