Be careful - most universal remotes only control the most basic of functions, volume change, channel change, mute, on/off. They rarely include operation of sources, menus, etc.

U are , no doubt, going to need an original unit for the menu access.
Check for remote on ebay or google.

Hi...
Is the first set "stereo" settings and the 2nd set "surround" settings?
If so that may mean that the surround speakers arent all connected right.

Center channel will not work unless unit is set for Surround or Pro Logic. Make sure center channel's volume is up

Check ebay for a remote. There are also several online dealers that sell replacement remotes. Do a search using "replacement remotes" and you'll find most of them. If you don't have the owners manual, I suggest getting one. It can probably be downloaded for free at Yamaha's website.
