Difficult to work on your suggestion - not sure where and what the 'contacts' look like. Tried to clean it blindly - did not work.

It worked. Thank you very much

Open front cover, push "options", push start, push 10, (maybe push "start" again here i dont remeber) then it should read "accepted", close cover, open cover, close cover, done. Those steps should work. Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks,
Lee

    Hi,
You won't have to push start again, and you shouldnt even have to open and close the cover again once it says accepted. Let me know how it goes.
    Thanks,
    Lee

The toner cartridge has some small contacts on it,, this tells the printer how much toner is remaining,, clean the contacts on the cartridge as well as the contacts in the machine where the contacts connect too,, chances are some toner has gotten on the contacts... Also verify that you replaced all cartridges that the machine says is low..

If that fails send the manufacturer an email with your contact information and the problem your experencing,, they will reply with a firmware upgrade or flash.. and instructions on how to use it...

    My reply

I am not sure where and what the contacts look like. Tried to clean blindly. Used a toner with drum that is working on another brother printer and the same message is displayed - "toner life end. open the front cover and replace toner"

its small copper contacts like small plates,, it touches pins inside the printer just locate the contacts on the cart and look at where they touch inside the printer ?

Replace the toner: Always use the smart card provided with the new Print Cartridge when replacing the cartridge. The smart card contains the information necessary to reset the level of Toner. Replacing the cartridge without using the smart card may result in the consumable management system being inaccurate.
  1. Insert the smart card provided with the new Print Cartridge into the smart card reader. A "Change Toner?" message will be displayed.

  2. Press the [OK] button. An "Open Front Cover Replace Toner" message will be displayed.
  3. Push on the left and right side of the Front Cover and simultaneously lower the cover.

  7. Press the [OK] button. A "Please Wait" message will be displayed while the machine reads the smart card, and then a "New Toner Remove Card" message will be displayed.
  8. Remove the smart card from the reader and dispose of the card as normal office waste.

NOTE: If the smart card has been used with a previous installation of a Print Cartridge, a "Remove Card Already Used" message will be displayed. The smart card can only be used once. Make sure to use the card that came with the new cartridge.

Fax machine Samsung Inkjet Fax SF-360. Ink was finished so ordered the correct ink cartridge and replaced it now on the screen it tells us to install ink cartridge. I have tried severeal times and i know...

If the Toner Low/Empty message does not automatically clear when a new cartridge is installed, use the following to clear the message manually:
1.Press MENU # 1 9 3 4. The machine should display TECH.
2.Press MENU, and ENTER. The machine should display TECH Mode.
3.Press the left arrow < once. The machine will show NEW CARTRIDGE.
4.Press ENTER, the machine will show YES.
5.Press ENTER, there should not be any Toner Low/Empty message.
6.Exit TECH MODE, press MENU # 1 9 3 4. The machine will no longer display TECH.
If Toner Low/Empty message continues, there may be a problem with the toner cartridge or the machine.

Display says toner out even with new cart. Setting new cart message in resets menu to yes does not work, selection reverts back to no. Customer is using reman carts.

A number of companies use a fuse that blows when the cartridge is low. If the fuse is not replaced, it will still say "toner out". The reman should have replaced it.

"Toner Low" keeps showing

Hi Meridy!
There could be a few reasons for the Toner Low msg you're getting.
  1. The toner wasn't evenly distributed when the cartridge was changed (shake gently from side to side before installing)
  2. The cartridge wasn't properly installed (ensure that the lock lever "clicked" into place
  3. The corona wire wasn't cleaned when changing the cartridge or the the blue tab wasn't put back in place (this is less likely the issue but still a possibility)
  4. The new toner cartridge was old and is now defective
I hope this helps with your problem. All the best!

Changed the Toner in Fax Machine and Still reads "Low Toner"

First, the obvious
  • Did you gently rock the toner cartridge from side to side to evenly distribute the toner?
  • Did the cartridge "click" into place?(did lock lever pop up when it was inserted)
  • Did you replace the protective cover securely?
Another thing to check is cleaning the Corona wire inside by sliding the Blue tab back and forth several times. Important to return the Blue tab back to the "Home" position afterward.
If you've done ALL of these steps correctly, and the low toner message is still there, a service call is in order. Best of luck with your machine!

Printer Says Toner Low, even when I just changed the toner

If this was an OEM cartridge, you may have received a defective one.  I'd suggest contact Brother for a solution.

You will need to manually reset the toner cartridge.
If the Toner Low or Toner Empty message does not automatically clear after a new cartridge is installed, do the following to clear the message manually:
  1. Press MENU # 1 9 3 4 in sequence rapidly. The LCD panel should now display TECH.
  2. Press MENU, and then press ENTER. The LCD panel will display Tech Mode.
  3. Press the left arrow (<) button once. The operator panel will display NEW CARTRIDGE.
  4. Press ENTER. The operator panel will display [YES].
  5. Press ENTER. The toner warning message should be gone.
  6. To exit TECH MODE, press MENU # 1 9 3 4 in rapid succession, as if you were dialing a phone number. The operator panel should no longer display TECH.
  7. If problem persists, there may actually be a problem with either the toner cartridge or the SCX-4216F.

Black Cartridge just changed, but still says K-toner low

The only way to clear the message is to wait until the the display shows XXXX Toner Out, then change the cartridge and the message will clear itself.
