Monitor issue Display on monitor comes and goes. It can be moved up and down to make it light up again. I was told it might be a ribbon issue. Any help would be appreciated.

It could be a few things causing this issue:

  1. Loose video cable to the motherboad
  2. Dying inverter
  3. Dying backlight
The easiest thing to test out is the video cable. Generally the cable plugs into the motherboard under the keyboard or under the panel just above the keyboard. Normally you need to remove several screws from the bottom and then carefully pop that panel off starting on one side. I'm looking for a break-down guide for your laptop.

My 1545 turns on then the screen slowly goes white but when i mess around with the screen pushing it moving it up and down will come back briefly says Graphics display stopped working

Please test using an external monitor first, this will exclude motherboard issues if the external display is normal.Nearly all screens turning white that I have observed is a screen fault requiring replacement.

Computer turns on, no video on lcd or external video. HP Mini 110

Sorry to hear that. To tell you honestly, this sounds like a video card issue. But, of course I will not jump into a conclusion without doing some diagnostics. Kindly try doing a power drain which most of the time causes issues with the display. Follow the steps below please.
  1. Make sure the computer is off. If the indicator lights are still on, press and hold the power button down for about 5 seconds or so, until indicator lights goes off.
  2. Take the battery out of the computer. Do not forcibly take it out. Most laptops have latches to unlock the battery.
  3. If the ac adapter or the charger is plugged in the computer, unplug it.
  4. Without any power source, press and hold the power button down for about 15-30 seconds. This drains electrical static on the motherboard which, again, most of the time causes issue with the display.
  5. After 15-30 seconds, put the battery back in and plug the charge into the computer for sufficient power supply and turn the computer back on.
If the display comes back up, then good. However, if you still have a black screen on both the built-in and the external monitor then the problem is the video card. If you have no display on the built-in LCD screen but there is display on the external monitor then the problem is with the LCD itself or the inverter cable, a cable that connects the LCD to the motherboard. I hope this fixes the issue though.

Thank you for visiting FixYa! have a good one.

Display has become intermitent caused by movement of the hinge area.

This is most likely the ribbon cable that runs from the motherboard to the LCD panel. The wires for this usually run underneath the hinge. You might try very carefully removing the power button bezel and see if the cable has come partially unplugged from the motherboard. If not, try moving the wires at the hinge area and see if you can confirm that it is a wire. If it is then replace the ribbon cable that goes from the motherboard to the LCD. This may be a wrapped cable as opposed to a ribbon cable but either way if it is bad, it will need to be replaced.

My normal browsing of the internet works fine. But I play world of warcraft. Here for the past few days I have issues with my monitor just going to sleep for no reason. I have to shut down my comp and...

Have a look at your power options through control panel.

Set the computers display, hard drive to never turn off. also disable sleep mode.

If you have all these settings already set to this then whoever told you that the graphics card is overheating could be right.

The only other thing i could suggest is to update you display drivers through the manufacturers website.

Good luck.

The display screen goes off when the laptop is moved

Sounds like the ribbon which runs between the screen and base is being nipped or is not making a good connection. This is a common problem. If that is the problem you may find that by adjusting the screen you can actually get the picture to show again which will confirm but obviously it will continue to happen.

Most laptops have a narrow panel above the F keys which snaps off and reveals the ribbon underneath. Check the connection is pushed in tight and also that the ribbon isn't being nipped, reposition to stop this happening. If it's been damaged then obviously you will have to replace it.

Acer aspire screen goes all lines

Parts that can be involved are LCD display, display ribbon cable, or in worst case graphic chipset on motherboard.
If the problem goes on and off when pressing LCD display enclosure, then it can just be the display cable or the LCD itself.
The computer must be taken apart to find out what is causing the problem. First you try adjusting display ribbon cable, then, if moving cable problem goes away, but you cannot fix it, you replace the cable that costs few dollars. If this still does not work you replace the display.
Cheapest replacement can usually be found on Ebay

Monitor goes in and out

do you mean to say that your system shuts down when you are not pressing the laptop ie, the power light also goes off when you are not applying the pressure, or just the monitor goes blank and power light is on when there is no pressure
in both the above cases i think you should call technical support for your laptop, because it seems like a hard ware problem

Monitor is completely black

Could be a problem with the LCD backlight or the LCD ribbon connector fault. I would recommend taking it to a tech to get it serviced.
