Dose it sound like a helicopter or an over driven electric motor?

In some cases, motor whining is normal, but if it is unbearably loud, this will be the result of the user over exceeding the units load capacity. This will, essentially, destroy the motor windings overtime, thus, inducing the whining sound during the spin out. over exceeding the load limit of your unit will destroy the integrity of the spin pulley, as well(this will make the whining noise if damaged). Now, if it is sounding like a helicopter, this will be the result of a failed leveling system(internal leveling assembly), or weak floor station.

Try to run a load with a simple capacity level of half a load. possibly just sheets. if this whining occurs on a light load(well under the capacity level), this will confirm that the spin pulley is worn. If the unit dose not make the whining noise while running the reduced load, this will confirm that the unit has been overloaded, thus causing the sounds of whining during the overloaded cycles.

To remedy the overload issue, simply limit the content to the available capacity mark set by the manufacture.

Maytag MAH4000AWW no longer does the high speed spin cycle. Other than that motor runs fine. Seems like a controller issue but don't have a repair manual to know for sure.

It could be the motor control board not telling the motor to switch to its highest speed, but it could also be control board not telling the motor control board to activate, but it could also be in the timing circuit. What other indications are you getting? Take a look at the wiring diagrams for this machine on the referenced site.

Might be the tub bearing going out. Is she leaking any?
Here is a visual inspect and repair of the tub seal:themobilian_1841.jpgthemobilian_1842.jpgthemobilian_1843.jpgthemobilian_1844.jpg

Those 6 springs are pretty tough to get back on there without the special tool
other than that it all goes back pretty easy.

Out of balance on spin cycle (machine is level)

The balancing straps that hold the drum in balance could be broken or the springs could be wore out.

Maytag Neptune Front Load Washer Model MAH4000AWW low last spin

two problems here,
your shaft seal is running on its last leg
the sound is unmistakeable and always described the same...
the water issue, you probably have a trickle leak through the cold water valve
the mixing valve is quite an easy repair, but I would have to say with all honesty, it probably time for a new machine
the hub seal is a tub replacment call
2 hrs of labor if hes good
and the tub runs around 500.00 dollars
sory for the bad news

Maytag washing machine gets out of balance

Maytag uses an auto balancing mechanism, based on the rear legs. These legs should move freely. Lay the machine on its side, and try to move the rear legs. If they won't move and appear rusty, then spray penetrating oil on both legs and move them until they move freely.

Maytag model LAT9605AAE serial # 13662937QD washer gets out of balance constantly on every spin cycle

make sure all of the legs are adjusted correctly. maytag washers also have to be on a very stable floor. if the floor is not stable or if the legs are not adjusted properly then the machine will shake all over as if they are out of balance.
