your statment dosnt clearly define what you intend to do im going to guss your reffering to an account on your internet conection this is only posible if you have a broadband conection
ie dsl or cable modem
if you do the next pice of hardware you will need is a router i recomend the newer standerd witch is defined as wirless N or simply N the older tech is the g standard
the diffrence in the 2 is conectivity speed
the g standard has a max thru put of 150 Mb/s
where as the N standard has a thruput of 1
Gb/s or 1000 Mb/s
i just bought a netgear n300 to replace a failing 12 year old lynksis g standard
works great but isnt expandable past 4 pc's with out using the wirless features but i have no intention of ever having more then 4 pc's hooked up in this house so no big deal there
I paid 79$ for my N300 from bestbuy
once you have the router the rest is a matter of hooking it up and configuring it
hope this is what you ment by adding your grandsons computer to your account
if not you will have to repost and in alot more details about what your intent is
best of luck the all knowing moron
Make sure that you have the ethernet cord from your modem plugged into the WAN/Internet port on your router. Then unplug the power cord from your cable modem and plug it right back in. After the modem fully comes back online, unplug the power cord on the wireless router and plug it back in. wait 30 - 60 sec and then try and connect.
Most cable companies only allow one active"CPE" at a time for internet access. All this means is when you change what is connected to the cable modem you must always reboot the cable modem to allow access.
if ur in wirless connection then u have to switch on the swith is seems like wirless then also it not detectig go for direct lan cable connection even thou ur not getting means then insert ur os cd and go for an option like repair it wont affect ur data
sounds like the router can only handle two local computers. I'm not familiar with a router by philips, assuming you got it from your ISP call them and make sure that it can support more then two computers, they might want extra money for more computers. Since I do not agree with that type of business model you can get overo n them by adding your own router (I prefer linksys) and then you can connect up to 255 devices to your internet connection and your ISP will think it is only one.
you dont use a wirless stick on the ps3 the ps3 has wirless built into it to conect to the internet you ethier need to conect it to a router though an ethernet cable or using wirless to conect to a router
