Question about Norelco Quadra Action 7864XL Electric Shaver
LIGHTS INDICATE BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED, BUT SHAVER SWITCHES OFF BEFORE LIGHTS INDICATE BATTERY DISCHARGED. BATTERY CHARGE HAS GRADUALLY LASTED LESS AND LESS TIME. NOW INDICATES 80% CHARGE, BUT SHAVER SHUTS OFF. STILL WORKS WITH POWER CORD. I ASSUME THIS MEANS THE BATTERY NEEDS REPLACEMENT, BUT I DON'T FIND A REPLACEMENT BATTERY LISTED IN PARTS STORES.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

The battery is probably one with multiple cells and one (or more) of them has shorted preventing the total from reaching a voltage that appears as fully charged.
If the cells are Ni-Cads, this is a common problem with them and when a battery-operated item of mine fails, I replace those older types with NiMH cells if the battery compartment can accept them.
I have 'restored' countless NiCads over the years by 'zapping' them with a fairly high current for a second or two; voltage isn't important as long as it is in excess of 2-3 volts but the source should have a few amps capacity.
This type of cell grows 'whiskers' that will cause them to short completely or develop a path that causes them to self-discharge faster than normal.

this problem is usually from old batteries. batteries will typically lose much of their ability to hold a charge after 3-6 years and they will need to be replaced.
if you use your shaver wet or rinse it under water, I dont suggest that you repair it as you will not likely get it sealed back up well enough to prevent it from leaking.
Panasonic does allow the sale of their specialized shaver batteries to consumers. Therefore, you will need to use a compatible battery type. shaveroutlet.com sells a set here:
These are made for Braun shavers but will work because they have prongs on the ends to snap in place like your originals

SOURCE: Norelco shaver sudden power loss
I hope you are observing the following:- Recharging only when the batteries are almost completely empty. Continuously recharging or continuously using as a corded razor will reduce life of batteries Charge only when the indicator in charge meter starts blinking. It appears that your batteries are gone. Hope you have replaced the batteries with the new ones. Use a good brand
