When you turn on dryer motor sounds like its under a load and won't run

Check the belt, idler pully, any rollers and the bearing the drum rides on in the back. On the front of the drum check the teflon gliders or rollers whitch ever it has. Then check the motor take the belt off if it has one and start the motor to see if it runs ok. I don't know what kind of dryer you have. It helps if you put the Name of the dryer and the model number.

Dryer will not start. Power is OK.

Sounds like your problem may be a broken belt.
If you have to replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.
First you will need to unplug your dryer from the electric.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley.
While you have the drum out, I would also recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.
If the belt is not the problem then you have exposed the motor for further checks. If the motor is ok, then I would look at the start switch or the timer switch.
Good luck,
I hope this helps

Whirlpool Electric dryer won't start

Your problem sounds like it could be a broken belt, faulty motor, or maybe the belt has slipped off of the motor or idler arm pulley.

You can try this first:
Uplug the dryer, reach inside and try to turn the drum 1/4 to 1/2 turn, the plug the dryer back in, and push the start button. Sometimes motors will get dead zones in them and this will move it from that zone.

If you attempt the repair, and if you have a front loading machine, you would remove the front of the machine, this will expose the drum and belt, you can now check the belt to see if it is ok. If it is ok, then you can remove the drum and belt and this will expose the motor, idler arm with pulley and drum rollers.
While you have the drum out of there it is a good time to check the condition of the drum rollers to see if they have flat spots on them, if they do have flat spots on them, then need to be replaced. If not then I recommend that you lubricate them at the shaft with a good grade of Machine Oil such as 3 in One oil. This will save problems later.
Good luck,
I hope this helps you

Kenmore electric dryer won't start

The first thing I would check would be the door switch. Dryers operate on 220 volts. Many brands split the 220v into 110v for controls and motor and 110v to the heater. There are also safety systems on many brands that won't allow the heater to come on if the fan motor is not running and blowing air throught he element to prevent overheating and dryer fires. If the door switch is ok, check the belt. If the belt is ok, it could be a problem with the motor start switch. The motor start swith is complicated fix and should be done by a professional. ALWAYS BE SURE TO DICONNECT THE POWER BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY REPAIRS.
