Badger 1 1/3 insinkerator not grinding

Hi, i have a badger 1 1/3 horsepower. i am having a problem. the motor hums, but does not rotate/grind. i tried pushing the reset button. i tried rotating the blades using a wrench - the blades rotate freely. i removed the drain pipes connecting to the insinkerator, but don't see any clogs. any clues what may be the problem and how to solve it?

Badger 5-81 motor buzzing, blades spinning, won't grind

Replace the whole thing. They are not that expensive and are easy to replace. The issue could be bad motor part or the shaft came loose from the grinding disk.

Badger 1/2 HP garbage disposal not working. Motor hums, blades are not rotating. I can rotate the service wrench with tension.

I would keep working the impeller back and forth with wrench while running hot water thru disposal until it turns freely. You can see if there are any small bone fragments or other debris in grinding chamber and removing with long needle nose pliers. Good luck. Thank you.

Garbage disposle makes a humming noise when turned on. InSinkErator Badger 5, 1/2 HP Garbage Disposal

Did you also hear any clattering sounds when it started? If so, it is rotating. If not then this hum is the motor in the lock rotor stage. Did you place garbage in it yet? Always run cool water in it when starting it.

The motor is working but the insinerator is not rotating

Are you sure the motor is turning and not just humming? The connection between the motor and the spinning plate in the bottom of the grinding chamber is very direct, so it's very unlikely to fail. Have you tried to turn the motor by hand with a hex key from underneath? If you can turn that while somebody watches from on top to confirm that the plate isn't turning, then it's not a simple fix. You might be able to take it apart to fix it, but this would be a pretty long shot as it would be hard not to cause it to leak.

MY BADGER 5 HAS POWER TO IT AND ATEMPTS TO TURN BUT WON'T, WHEN YOU TURN IT MANNUALY IT SEEMS GUMMED UP HARD TO TURN,AL OF THE BLADES ARE FREE AND NOTHING IS IN IT

Be aware that the wheel that makes up the entire floor of the grinding chamber is the part that rotates. There are two lugs mounted on this wheel that rotate freely, but they are not driven by the motor. There's a hole in the bottom middle of the disposer where you can insert an allen wrench (there may be a special disposer tool already in the cabinet) and turn the motor manually. If the motor does turn freely, but the disposer still hums and doesn't stat, that'll mean there's a problem with the motor's starter circuit. You or a motor repair shop could open up the motor and check the resistance of the windings, the centrifugal starter switch, etc., but your best value at this point, especially with an entry level model such as a badger 5, is to replace the disposer. If you get another one made by insinkerator you can install the new one in like three steps.

Insinkerator has power but does not grind garbage. have hit reset button and turned allen screw at bottom. now i dont get a hum from the motor.

Is it hardwired or does it plug into an outlet? If it plugs in, check the outlet for power. Is a circuit breaker tripped? How do you know it has power if it doesn't even hum?
