SOURCE: Parts and Grind Selection

The current Kitchenaid A9 burr grinder glass jar is interchangable with the original Hobart/Kitchenaid A9 glass jar; therefor, the gasket should also interchange - contact Kitchenaid customer service to order a gasket.

Setting the grind is accomplished by grasping the body of the ginder in one hand and the grind-selector ring (collar that the jar screws into) in the other. Hold the base tight and turn the selector ring clockwise for a finer grind, counterclockwise for coarser. Be careful not to completely unscrew the selector ring; if you are not sure how much adjustment is left, screw it all the way clockwise until it stops (finest grind); then, back it off, up to one full turn to make the grind coarser.

The selector ring has the words coarse, medium and fine cast into it; these are rough postition markers. There is a triangle cast into the body of the grinder, just above the brand name, that can be used to diral in a preferred level of grind. I use a medium-coarse grind for drip coffee makers; to do likewise, position the selector ring so that the triangle is pointing midway between the words coarse and medium.

SOURCE: kitchen aid coffee pot says error 2

An ERR 2 may be cleared by a simple reset of the coffee maker. This means unplugging the unit and plugging it back in. When powered back on, select a brew function to see if the error reappears.

If it does, ERR 2 indicates an internal error with the computer of the warming plate. This may be covered under Kitchenaid's 1 Year Hassle Free Warranty. I would advise you to call Kitchenaid Customer Service to see what options are available to you. Repair is not recommended, as it is not cost effective for the company or the consumer.

SOURCE: operating manual for kitchen aid coffee machine

Manuals and guides may be located online at KITCHENAID.COM.

In the upper-right hand corner of the site, click on CUSTOMER CARE and then click on LOCATE MANUALS AND GUIDES.

It will then ask you for your model number.

For a coffee maker, the model number is located on a white sticker underneath the machine.

On the website, type in your model number exactly as it appears on this sticker and click GO.

This will then bring up the literature listing for your particular unit. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the files.

Also, Kitchenaid Customer Service will send you a physical copy of an instruction manual at no charge if you choose to call them. Their toll-free telephone number is:

Took my mr coffee burr apart a little spring fell out now the grinder doesnt work where dose the spring go

Im first wondering why u took a good grinder apart ??? could it be that it was working only intermittently ?? if that is so , im betting the little spring is either the spring that pushes the start switch back up when u let go (otherwise it would run forever) or it might be a motor brush holder tension spring , that's most likely why its working only intermittently the brushes are worn down and need replaced , a neet hack 4 this is to use electric drill brushes ! I found they fit and can be sourced from a well stocked hardware store !!

My A-9 KA coffee mills are working perfectly. 2003 never quits, 2006 was a royal pain and burrs/pin replaced and working perfectly. Now, I have a 2004 used for decaf, actual use from purchase about

I don't see a question in the paragraph but common problems for the A9 are 1) Shear pin 2) Motor brushes 3) slow motor operation
If shear pin then the grinders won't turn or may intermittently rotate if pin is half broken
If motor brushes worn to nubs then a fast clicking noise and sporadic on off operation followed by no operation
If motor is slow then the commutator may need cleaning requiring removing the rotor

Kitchen aid mixer 5kpm5 motor doesnt go round freely

Any appliance with a motor should rotate freely. These are basically gear driven devices, Kitchen Aid makes different quality equipment. So either the gears are worn or possibly if you notice an electrical smell the problem could be at the tail of the motor. there are 3 major components 1. the brushes where the armature spins if you look inside the vent holes you might see a slight arc while it is running 2. the tail piece which is how the motor is kept straight. or as I said worn gears. this is especially common when companies use plastic gears instead of metal ones. Commercial appliances made by people like Hobart are expensive, but they outlast most others..

You can find these on ebay for far less than it will cost to repair the ones you have. Here is one for a current bid of $39.99. You can find many more on ebay and around the web. http://cgi.ebay.com/Kitchen-Aid-A-9-Model-KCG200-Coffe-Mill-Grinder-Heavy_W0QQitemZ140487372005QQcategoryZ13930QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4340.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D10%26pmod%3D120646381982%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5577154654479827015#ht_500wt_922 You can also buy a new one as KithenAid has started making the A9 again. Amazon is showing it out of stock at this time. http://www.amazon.com/KitchenAid-KCG200OB-Classic-Model-Coffee/dp/B00009K3SX You can more than likely sell the 2 units you have on ebay as they are very popular and someone will buy them as is. My advice is to buy another one that is working. I think you will be money ahead.

Kitchen aid burr grinder adjustments

You are correct, the grider positions are locked internaly so the grinder will not go too fine since this can damage the blades and also too fine need more power from motor and also can block it by rottating normaly. However you ir open the grider you can overcome the lock and udjust so the grinder can grind more fine coffee. In order to be always at the safe side just move gradualy step by step until you find the perfect grinding and adjust so that will be the minimum plus one mor move for furure adjustment if you need.
Just for reference the corect grinding is for 7 to 7.5 gr of coffee the running time of the coffee from your machine should be 25 sec for 25 cc of coffee aprox.
Good luck.

Kicthen Aid Coffee Grinder BCG100

The two small little guides you refer to are a pair of switches that get depressed when the top is pressed down. In the top is supposed to be a plastic pin in the top of each one of the grooves. When both pins push both of the switches down (look like black dots) the grinder wil operate. The proper solution would be to replace the top.
