Connecting a Projector to a MacBook

I can't figure out how to make this projector work with my MacBook

My projector is Sharp CXVT (LP-Z5) and I wanted to connect my Macbook (Mac OS X 10.5.2) to it. I bought the micro DVI and Video adaptor, tried the video connection for a few minutes it worked, a week later, I bought a S-video cable thinking that it might give me a better quality but this is when the problem started: the picture on the big screen is different from the monitor. I changed the display resolution but no change. I rebooted the computer, no change. When I accidentally moved a Safari window to the right, a part of the window could be seen, seems like the projector and the macbook monitor are showing different windows. Also, I changed the background picture but no change in the projector. I tried the screen saver, it worked. I also tried the video but same problem. What went wrong?

What's a VGA? By the way, these are the connections to the projector:

    HDMI 1
    HDMI 2
    computer (15pin)
    video
    S video
    component (green, blue, red)
    D4-video component 2
    service port

    Which one?

Just get a VGA adaptor for your macbook, and it should work just fine, that's what I did.

VGA to HDMI cables don't work. They're a con. VGA is an analogue signal. HDMI is digital. It's not possible to convert from one to the other with just a bit of wire.

Hi--my new Vivitek D5 projector is not connecting to my Macbook. I have a mini DVI converter attached to a vga to DVI video adapter, but the projector can't "find" the source.

Please check your port with another source to confirm the working of the PC. Now also try to see if the projector connects with another PC. This will confirm the culprit as it is possible that there is a signal mismatch to the source input and hence not detected.

I have a MacBook Pro (latest edition) and can't sync it with my Data Projector ACER PD523 DLP

Are you connecting with VGA etc cable. It (your Mac) should automatically sync. Also check input on projector, there's usually multiple input options

Macbook recognizes dell projector, but not vice versa

Hello,
Your Macbook should automaticaly find the best resolution, if everything was OK. Is there any HDMI input on the dell projector? What projector is it? Is there is an HDMI input, you can use a HDMI to mini DVI cable: better picture and sound than VGA, and will probably solve your problem

Mac Probook, when connected to Dell projector models 2400 DLP or MP 4100, the image on screen flickers. I have heard that you need to change the frequency setting on the Mac. Is this true? If so, what...

When connecting to exterior projectors, the video settings can be difficult to set up correctly. Try swapping the monitor in the display system preference and sliding your stuff to the other monitor. This is kind of a pain but it does work sometimes. The more you play around with that system preference the more you will figure stuff out. It is also possible that the particular projector is providing feedback into your mac. Try it on another type of projector and see if the problem persists.

Connecting Macbook with a compaq MP1400 digital projector

You're going to need a conversion dongle that goes from the Mini-DVI to VGA.

Then:
  1. Connect one end of the projector signal cable to the Video Graphics Array (VGA) connector on the projector.
  2. Connect the other end of the projector signal cable to the Digital Video Interface (DVI) connector or VGA connector on the notebook computer and tighten the screws.
  3. Connect the projector power cord to the power cord connector on the projector.
  4. Connect the other end of the power cord to an electrical outlet that is easily accessible and close to the projector.
  5. Turn on the projector first, then turn on the computer.
