Question about Philips PET710 Portable DVD Player

Wrong Region Cant get a foreign dvd to play, it says wrong region

Thank you, B. L. Kaplan, your advice worked on my PET710 (at least for dvds Region 1 and 2). I am a little worried though. A friend of mine told me some time ago that after he had changed his portable reg 2 Philips (not this model but a newer one) region free, it was OK for a couple of months but then he started to have problems (reg 1 dvds did not show well, sometimes any region dvds did not play etc.). Has anybody long-time experience of PET710 which has been modified?

How do i get wrong region off my dvd player so it will play dvds

If you are in region 1 for DVD's you can't play any other region. You have to buy the right region DVD for the player. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code

I bought a DVD from the netherlands. my DVD player says to check the regional code. I have Samsung M/C DVD 1080P 8/xaa serial # 02686 VBQ 512 632L. can you help me to get this DVD plAYED?

Hello. The reason your DVD cannot play the DVD is that the DVD is not formatted for North America/your DVD player. You can try playing it in a computer, but I cannot guarantee it will work. If you look on the back of the DVD, you will see a region code, the region for North America is region 1. Or, you can see if you know someone with a DVD player that can play foreign DVDs.

I have a hitachi surround system with dvd player inside it and when i play a dvd it says "wrong region"

wrong region means that your dvd format is PAL and cant support it. The dvd has to be NTSC to work. Hope that solves your problem

DVD's wont play - says wrong region but they are compatible

To change the Region code on your player, open Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device manager, and click on DVD/CD ROM drives, then right click on the DVD drive and click Properties then click on DVD Region.
You can enter a new region and it also shows you how many changes have been made.
NOTE you can make only 4 changes and the player will lock permanently on the 4th change.
If you want to play DVD from any region you maybe able to upgrade the firmware to make it region free BUT if you make a mistake or installed the wrong firmware the player will be a piece of junk.
The best solution to make the player region free is to install a piece of software that allows you to play DVDs from any region. There are several available on the Internet but my favourite is DVD-Region Free

The DVD player will not play anything. It says invalid region.

Then you have a DVD player that is either not designed to be sold in your region or DVD's that are for a specific region and not for the country you reside in. If you want to be able to play any video buy a multi region DVD player, not a locked to a region one! You may be able to find an unlock code, but oif its an unknown brand you're stuck!

Wrong region

HELLO!
On the face of this problem it sounds like the machine is set to a region other than the discs you're trying to play. Here is something that might just help you.
To multi-region your machine:

press Setup
select the Preference Tab
Press 1,3,8,9,3,1
Press up/down key to select "0"
and press menu to exit.

This way you are telling the machine to look for ALL regions. I hope this is the answer for you.
ALL THE BEST!

Region codes reset

hi juferrer,i guess the dvd u have brought is from a foreign one. Region coding is how Hollywood studios stagger dvd movie releases across the planet. These codes ensure that one country doesn't get a DVD movie before the same movie is out in that country's theatres. In their corporate omniscience, movie studios have carved the planet into regions with each region having a specific code.

All DVD players and discs have region codes. A DVD player and disc must be of the same region or the disc will not play.

If you want to watch movies from other countries, you need a multiregion DVD player. This will allow you to play any disc from any region. However, because TV standards differ, you might need a specialized NTSC/SECAM/PAL TV or a DVD player that can output any signal to the standard your TV accepts.hope u get the point.
