There is likely no reset button - but just the two pull chains and a direction selector switch. But before getting in too deep try this:

I'd try pulling each chain ONCE and the try the remote light once more. The light should come on - make sure that if the remote is a dimmer type - you command it to brighten. If still no luck, try the remote fan again. Still no luck, pull each chain ONCE more and try the remote again as above. If this still doesn't work - replace the batteries in the remote with fresh, new types and try again.

If still having a problem, it could be a bad transmitter (remote) receiver or other circuit related problem.

I hope this helps!

Did you notice if there was anything else not working in the house? If so, most likely a breaker tripped. If it did, then there is a problem with the circuit. Unplug everything on this circuit and try resetting the breaker. If it still has problems, call in a licensed electrician to troubleshoot the problem.
Did anyone work on anything prior to this event? May be a loose connection. turn off ALL the power in the electrical panel before you work on the fan because you have no idea which breaker (or fuse) operates this unit. Check all the connections in the fan. If the connections are good then we need to stop here because more details would be needed.

SOURCE: Light not working by pull chain or remote.

I would try removing the remote part. Connect the two main (light & fan) wires direct to your house main. Then if the pull chain works then you just need a new remote unit.

We just recently installed a harbor breeze ceiling fan w/light and remote. During a storm the lights just quit working. What can we do?

Power outages cause ceiling fans to suffer memory loss. The basic "cure" is to disconnect fan power at the source and, while waiting a few minutes, remove the remote battery and press all buttons to verify that none are stuck. Reinstall the battery and test operation. Other factors may affect restored operation such as using wall switches and pulling the chains. The simple brain in the fan canopy can't remember switch and/or pull chain settings at the instant of power loss.

Light button stopped working

Hello Becky,

I Have a lot of questions and it may be easier to call me. Don't worry I won't try to sell you anything!! My name is Jack Jr and I am a ceiling fan tech and troubleshoot / work on fans all day. I can be reached toll-free at Fan Man Lighting (1-866-600-3267). Some things I will ask you though is does the little indicator light on the transmitter come on when you press the light button? I would start by switching off the transmitter (the slide switch you mention), tugging the light pull chain, restoring power (with the slide switch) and then trying the light again. If this does not work I would like to know approximately how old is the fan? How many dipswitches does your wireless system use?. Where is the Receiver located in the fan? Don't worry, I can walk you through each of these questions and make educated guesses if you do not know. Also I will have some trouble shooting tips. Stay warm!

Hunter ceiling fan light will not turn off when I pull the chain. No remote. I replaced the switch, thinking that was the problem, and still the light won't turn off. I have to keep the lights on if I want...

Make sure it's wired correctly to the fan.The light should turn off when you pull the chain weather you have a remote or not. Also the model of the fan should be 5 digits starting with a 2.

Make sure your fan is on high with the pull chain switch. Push the remote Hi button then pull the chain until it's on the high speed, Then DO NOT use the pull chain. Same with light , Push light button on remote then pull chain until it's on then leave the chain alone. If that doesn't do the trick then you probably need a new receiver.

Non responsive light or fan

Oh, that fan problem. Just for luck, remove the batteries from the remote and press all of the buttons to eliminate a stuck button as a possibility. Next, go to the source of fan power (breaker or fuse) and turn it off. Do not mess with any switches or pull chains. Turn on the fan power and try the remote. Make note of this procedure because you will have to repeat it whenever you have a power outage or you mess with the switches or pull chains trying to solve the problem

Is there a way to take remote controll off of a fan mine stoped working after kids pulled fan or light pull

My ceiling fan loses remote control every time there is a power outage. The first thing to do is turn off power to the fan at the circuit breaker. Take the battery out of the remote and push all the buttons to eliminate a stuck button as a possible cause. Reinstall the battery. Turn on power to the fan. Check operation. You may have to pull a chain to "reeducate" the remote but you should be back up and running soon.

Ceiling fan with light and remote stopped working

It's most likely the receiver for the remote (transmitter) -- it's located under the cover at the top of the fan -- will need replacing.

Ceiling fan stopped working after power spike blew the breaker. I reset the breaker and all else in the room came on but not fan. Does it have an internal reset?

If you own a Hunter Original, there is no reset button, but MANY people that have a remote control added (includng me) have , once power has been restored, found that the chain was pulled by someone and it got into the off position, rather than the slow, medium or high setting. With the circuit hot, pull the chain one more time and try to turn on your fan with the remote again.
Hope this helps.
