Question about Kitchen Ranges
I have a GE JGBS23WEA1WW gas range (1996). Last week everything worked fine. Today I tried to light the burners, oven and broil with no success. My gas dryer, water heater, furnace all work fine but not the range. I ckecked to make sure the oven gas shut-off vavle was on. The glow light burner in the broiler compartment functions and the stove top electrodes appear to be working properly. Can you help?

Most likely the oven ignitor is bad or weak. You can look at it and see how it compares to the broil ignitor. If you see a whitish color on the ignitor and if it doesn't fully glow then it needs to be replaced.

bad oven ignitor is the most common cause of bake failure, located onthe side of hte burner bar itself, if youd like with a multi-meter, you can check the wires leading to the ignitor for 110v. if you have power and nothing was glowing from ignitor theres your problem
