Question about Audio Players & Recorders

2 Answers

I have a houseful of I pod touches, and 3 different docking audio devices in the house. (2 sony, 1 ihome)My sony bookshelf system has developed an issue where it charges but will no longer play sound from the ipods nor control the ipod with it's controls when docked. My wife discovered she could apply forward pressure the the ipod and cause the connection to work, but this makes me nervous and obviously doesn't help much. What can I do to solve this?

First, check to see if the iPod dock's connection is not loose at the back of your audio system.
If everything is tightly connected, unplug the power chord for a couple of minutes (around 5 to 10 minutes).

May 15, 2010 - It's built in, so there is no connection wire, etc. to check. I will try the unplugging idea and see if that yields a result.
May 15, 2010 - Didn't work unplugging the unit....any other thoughts? It's obviously something internal to the connector on the docking unit itself.

You will need to clean the contacts on your Sony bookshelf (where the ipod docks) with a QTIP and some rubbing alcohol. Next, look at your ipod touch and see that the contacts are clean. If the contact board is bent to far back then you will need to open it up and adjust it so it will meet flush with your ipod.

Tried the alcohol but unfortunately didn't help. I don't think there is a problem with the contact board on my ipod being bent as I have 4 touches in the house and they all work fine with the other 2 devices in the house, but all of the 4 have the issue I described with the sony bookshelf unit. Do you know if it's possible to adjust the angle of contact on the docking unit itself or to replace the part on the docking unit?

If it is only two months old, put it in for repair under warranty.
The fact that two devices don't charge indicate it is probably faulty.
Before you do, first check all the obvious things.
Check the docking cradle is clear of fluff, paper or cat hair.
Check that any switches are in the on position.
Check that all cables are plugged in.
You may not have changed anything, but someone else may have.

I bought an ihome p90 it wont play my ipod touch

Hello,
It is very possible that the ihome p90 is not compatible with the ipod touch. unfortunately for us, the different generations of ipods are not all the same and not all work on different docks. To verify that your itouch is not the problem, borrow someone elses and try to see if that will play. I'm willing to bet that its just the dock that is not compatible with that specific version of the itouch.
Good luck

It is normal to get incompatible devie message when you attach your iphone to dock because you don't use apple dock. I have 5 different brand portable speakers, charging docks. And all of them give same message when i attach my iphone 4 to dock. When you press "ok" on your iphone screen, it should start to play your songs. You don't need to use your iphone at airplane mode.

You may have problem with your iphone dock conncector cable pins. If audio related pins are damaged, you can not use any external iphone speakers with your iphone4. In order to test your sonic integrity tube pod; try another ipod or iphone on its dock. If it gives same result, you may need to change dock connector unit on sonic integrity tube pod due to damaged pins. If it works; iphone 4 dock connetor cable of your iphone 4 needs to be replaced.

New ipod, old ihome. "device not supported" Any way around?

I'm sorry but no. the ihome is only for the 1st generation, so if you want to use it with your new ipod, you need to buy another one that supports second generation. this is a bummer, but its how they make their money.

I also have the same problem but now I think it's the type of I-Pod you use. Do you use the I-Pod 80 Gb video or the newer 160 Gb I-Pod with the cover flow etc. ? The documention of the HTD7001 says it's only support some I-Pods. I would know sure if I would have a type of Video I Pod wich is supported by the documentation
