Help With Info On My Home Theater Speakers

Westlake Audio Concert Series C6 Loudspeakers. I can't find any info from anywhere or anyone on these speakers. I'd love to know their specs and find out if they are bi-ampable. They were manufactured from the early 1990's-mid 1990's (5-7 years).

Bi-amped speakers will have dual pairs of inputs. You should not attach two amplified lines to the same speaker posts.

How do u connect the wireless speakers ?

Not much info here, Anon. So, I'll tell you what I know about wireless speakers generally. I have a Samsung home theater which has wireless surround speakers. However, "wireless" simply means they're not wired to the receiver. Wires are needed, however, to run from the surrounds to a unit (receiver is all it is) which must be plugged into a regular wall plug. This receiver picks up the surround signals from the theater and then transmits them to the speakers.

Presumably, you have this wireless receiver unit which matches your speakers. . . If not, it may be something you must buy separately. I don't know what type of electronic equipment you're talking about here, but what I just described is the norm for home theater. The only truly "wireless" speakers I know of are battery powered and are for patios, porches, decks, etc. so that you can listen to your music outside. They are tuned to a particular radio frequency - like a walkie talkie.

If your system is equipped with a tape monitor loop, you can switch the EQ out of the circuit by disengaging the tape monitor switch. If the EQ is connected to the pre-out / main-in jumper, you would have to defeat the EQ before you hook up a conventional speaker. I don't believe the EQ has a defeat switch - you'd have to rig a bypass.

Once defeated, if you have a system equipped with a Speaker A / Speaker B selector, the smaller speakers could hook up to the second system. If that's not possible, speaker switches are available for reasonable money. It is very important, though, that the 901 EQ i defeated when using conventional loudspeakers.

Have a pair of Cyrus 781 speakers and would like to use the output of a Flat screen TV or Blue Ray Player. What type of cable can I use?

Unfortunately, you can't just hook those speakers to your TV or DVD player. Those devices only offer "line-level" audio outputs that aren't strong enough to drive loudspeakers directly. Those outputs are meant to be fed into the inputs of an amplifier of some kind, and then the speakers are driven by the amplifier.

On some TV sets there may be an external speaker connector, but the amplifier isn't meant to drive serious speakers. The manufacturers intend those to be used with optional soundbars or speakers they want to sell you. Use them with "real" speakers and you might wind up damaging the amplifier over time.

So the real answer to your question is "no kind of cable". If you do get an amp or home theater receiver, you'll need audio cables with RCA plugs from the sources to the amp, and regular speaker cable (18-gauge, and don't waste your money on "Monster Cable"!!) from the amp to the speakers.

Subwoofer will not product sound. (ignore product)

Please verify that we're talking about a JBL PSW-D110 here. I'm making no assumptions.

Are you running the Ipod into its L & R RCA jacks as prescribed?

Have you tried it with something besides the Ipod? A sub isn't supposed to reproduce a full range signal. Come to think of it, is the Ipod even outputting anything within the sub's operational range? I don't expect a lot of real bass comes out of one.

Perhaps you could try adjusting the Low Pass up to 180 to see if anything anywhere near the 'real' bass region is present.

Bottom line: There's not a lot of need for a sub (and no other speakers) running off of any music sound source. You wouldn't hear anything above 180hz.
