Check fuses on Power Supply board (F850, F851, F852) and all other fuses. Replace blown fuses (will need an ohm meter to check fuses). I would also replace the two convergence amps (STK392-110's on the signal board, the big black ICs on the two heat sinks). This worked for me.

Toshiba 50HX81 projection 'tv- blinking red light

The TV is on protect mode.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

No pic or sound with power on my Toshiba 50HX70 Tv

The plug configuration shouldn't make a difference; the third (round) pin is only an earth/safety ground. The two primary plugs supply the AC. You probably have a failed power supply which may be a separate board. Check to see if this is the case, look for a part number and see if you get any hits on it on search.

Toshiba 50hx81 no picture or sound

If you managed to find a manual or have resolved the problem, please post it back here to benefit others. You probably had a partial or complete power supply failure.

Toshiba 50

1) Blown fuse ( soldered in) = caused by bad solder connects.
2) For repair = pull chassis, solder connects, replace fuse
3) Replace convergence IC's ( possibly damaged)
4) Re-assemble,test

Red power light keeps blinking and wont come on

The first thing to try is to unplug the unit from the wall for about 15 minutes,if this does not work you will need the assistance of a servicer to diagnose the problem,if you are familiar with tv service you can check the horizontal output transistor for a short, sometimes it fails for no reason and other times it goes bad along with the horizontal output transformer also know as flyback.Be careful if you decide to check this yourself.
