My GE washer doesn't spin, although I can hear the motor runs normally when I set it to spin. The agitator also doesn't move at all.

SOURCE: GE washer GNSR2140A0WW wont spin/agitate but fills and drains

Hello, your problem is going to be with the lids switch, in this machine it is going to be a magnetic contact. You can confirm this my pulling the front panel off and accessing the wireing to the lids switch, If you have electrical knowledge bypass the lid switch using a wire nut and run the machine. If all is ok make sure you relpace the lid switch since it is there for a reason. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Good Luck!!!

SOURCE: GE washer less than 2 yrs old won't spin or agitate

Hi,
The agitator may be bound up. Remove the cap on it's top, than the nut or bolt which holds it inplace. Remove the entire agitator. Check for anything beneath it which may be causing the problem.
The belt may be too worn to grip the pulleys. Inspect it and replace it if there is any doubts. Easy to do and not to costly.
Also inspect the pulleys. They should rotate easily. If not, replacement may be the only opition.
Additional Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers online web site for product information, problem possibilities, causes, solving methods, part locations, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair procedures, pictorials, schematics, downloadable repair and or owners manuals which may be available online.
Another possibility may be to search the manufacturers web site for a downloadable version of the owners or service manual. The file will be a pdf file opened with Adobe which also needs to be downloaded but worth having the Adobe once obtained.
Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Appliance part stores and dealers are listed in the phone book.

Washer fills with water but doesn't begin to agitate to wash. It also drains but doesn't spin when we set the dial to that

Your agitator pindle. has come loose From the spline. Try to lift up on the agitator. If it lifts off the spindle easily then it has worn out the spline. That is what connects the agitator to the s

Washer won't agitate or spin

Hello there and welcome to fixya
there are several things that you will need to check first ok please verrify the following
It doesn't pump or spin
If it doesn't pump water out or spin, check to see if the motor is running, then proceed as follows:
If the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley or a broken pump belt. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it. If the pump belt is broken or looks quite worn, replace it--but be sure to check the pump pulley before you change the belt.
If the motor isn't running, the lid switch may be defective. If so, the washing machine can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

GE profile washer not spinning model number wnsr3120w0ww

Do you hear the motor going? If you do, I am sorry to say it is your transmission on your washer. The website link below will confirm this if you hear a motor going. If you don't hear a motor then it could be your motor. It is very expensive to replace, I am sorry to say. The expense of the transmission is $260 plus or minus with labor. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/washer-repair/13251-ge-profile-washer-fills-drains-agitates-but-wont-spin.html

GE WHDRR418 top load washer won't spin at high speed; the washer does the complete cycle, and agitates in both directions and does physically spin, but it will not go into the 'high speed' spin that...

we can eliminate the motor and the switch since that part is working. sound like your timer might be faulty, timer make everything work in persistence cycles, if its goes bad sometime it tend to jump/skip cycles.

Ge washer won't agitate

If the washer won't agitate at all, but the motor and belts are turning,
then you may have drive coupling or transmission issues. In this case, it
is well worthwhile to have a technician check the machine to verify this.
Sometimes, the base of your agitator can strip out, especially from
overloading. In such a case, the splines are damaged inside the agitator,
and can be seen after the agitator is removed.

If you can hear the motor running, and the water is moving a little bit, but not like normal where the clothes are being worked around you might just have worn out agitator dogs. This is a really easy 15 minute do it yourself fix, and the parts are less than $10 and widely available.
