This Omnipage is an executable file which should open when you click on it but I keep getting this error message.

  • brollins1951 May 15, 2010

Is this your only solution? I did not join your site to buy software. I already know how to go to sites to do that.

    Hello,

From the information you posted, the file might not be saved properly, that is why it is given error while opening it.

I suggest you delete the file and re-copy the file again and save it properly, with this, the file will open. If there is a software you are using to open the file, uninstall the software and re-install back after installing because it is possible that the software may be corrupt.

You can also scan your system for virus, because virus atimes affect files and will not allow the files to open.

    Take care.

I have the Omniform on a flashdrive which I use at work. It works on my job computers and at one time did work on my home desktop. Is there something in Norton that might cause this problem?

  • Sulaimon Jimoh Olayemi May 15, 2010

    Hello,

Have you scan your system with a genuine and active antivirus to see if your system is virus free?

I advice you turn off your system and power on again and try open the file, if that did not solve the problem, then disable the norton antivirus and try to open the file again.

If this two above option did not solve the problem, it could be that the flash as virus or their is problem with the file.

    Take care.

I would take them to a computer and copy them to it, and see if you can read them there. It may be that there's some bad sectors on the removable media (memory card), or the camera itself is having some issues reading it. Either way, if they are recoverable, your best bet is to move them to something that is more stable, and as soon as possible.

Once they are on the computer, try to open them in whatever software can do so. If they're a RAW camera format, you'll need a special codec (driver-sort of thing) or software to read them. If you're saving them as JPEG/JPG or another common file type, your computer should be able to open them natively.

If they are still unable to be opened (and give you errors) then either the memory card is bad, or something is wrong with the way the camera is saving the files. In either case, I would replace that memory card as soon as possible.

Cannot install Omnipage 18

get the old program that you have installed and click on it to get up the properties tab
click on compatibility tab
click in square and then high light win 7 click apply and ok
the fault is that you are getting the error message as you have a program already installed and if you want to install a later version of the program you will first have to go to programs and features in the control panel and uninstall omnipage program and all programs associated with the omnipage name

I want to scan a paper and i want to save it as word so that i modify it. How can i do it?

It depends on if you have the full software installed. The MP160 documentation indicates it came wth ScanSoft OmniPage SE. Open MP Navigator and choose this program, you can output the scan as a text file. If you did a custom install, you may or may not have installed the program. If you omitted the program, do a new custom install.
OmniPage is an OCR program and will output to a number of formats (you will choose File, Save as) after scanning. Word can import RTF and most other choices as well as .doc files.

If you don't have the software disc, the software can be obtained from this URL:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=334&modelid=13368

Alternatively, there is a free OCR program (simpleOCR.com) that will do the same thing. However it doesn't handle text in columns (newspaper or magazines) very well.

I hope this helps.

Cannot export from OMNIPAGE SE (mac), 10.1.0 to WORD

Hello,
I believe I can help you with this. What is the format of the page you are exporting from? Also, how many images files are there and what is the size of the file you are exporting from?
I know that MSWord has size limitations on documents which is 32MB, so most like the exporting document contains images that in total is greater than the size limit.
Check out this article by Microsoft--> http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;211489
I hope this helps,
Thanks, Raph30

Problem using OCR with Canon MP610 all-in-one

I got this message too, before I installed an OCR program. It may be that you need to install one (or specify it, if you have one already). With my MP610, an installation disk was included that contained the OmniPage SE program for OCR. When I installed that on my computer, and told MP Navigator (another Canon-supplied program, that controls scanning) to use it as the "Open With" program for OCR, it worked.
