How do i fix white screen on my kav60 acer aspire one

The KAV60 is also the AOD250.

Netbook OFF, monitor OFF, connect an external monitor to the netbook's VGA port.

[You can use a VGA monitor. Looks like a small TV.
This is an example of a VGA port,

Note* VGA port doesn't have to be blue in color ]

Turn the monitor on. Turn the netbook on.
If there is no image shown on the external VGA monitor, press and hold down on the Fn key, and at the same time tap once on the Display Toggle-Over key.
(The F5 key is the Display Toggle-Over key)

No image on external VGA monitor?
Hold the Fn key down once more, and tap again on the F5 key.

Still no?
Problem is internal in netbook. Probably graphics chipset soldered to the motherboard.
Replace motherboard.

Image shows on external monitor?
Problem is with Video Cable or laptop LCD screen.
MOST of the time it's the Video Cable.

The Video Cable connects to the motherboard, in an area under the Keyboard. It then routes up under the left Hinge, and into the Display Panel.
Inside the Display Panel it then connects to the LCD screen.

With frequent opening and closing of the netbook, the Video Cable can be pulled on. This can cause damage to the Video Cable.
(Stretched/broken wires inside the sheath of the cable)

And/or it can cause the connection at the motherboard to be loose, and/or at the LCD screen.

Example of Acer Aspire One video cable,

For ACER Aspire One D250 LCD Screen Cable DC02000SB10 KAV60 New

You can remove the Video Cable, and check it's continuity with a multimeter, or if the cost is reasonable to you simply replace it.

8 to 10 dollar video cable is not the problem? Then problem is the LCD screen itself.

My money is on a loose video cable connection, or damaged video cable.

How to switch the meso lap top to external monitor

If you have an external monitor with VGA interface and you have a VGA monitor cable then should simply plug it into the netbook VGA socket and reboot. The monitor should then start up and can be used as a screen. If you are using Windows then you can right click mouse on screen to select display properties and configure the resolution and profile of the setup.

Where can i find a display screen for my acer liqiud mini e310? all what i find when i search is touch screens and i want the display one!

I'm assuming you want to hook up an external monitor? If that is the case than any with a VGA hook up, which is most monitors will work. You simply plug in the VGA cable from the netbooks vga port to the port on the monitor. You will need to from the FN key + one of the F# keys that says LCD or has a monitor icon. You can toggle to netbook only, netbook + external mirrored, external only. You can also configure it for extended display and use both displays at the same time.

How can i solved my netbook that boots up but no display..???

Shine a flashlight on the dark screen to see if you barelysee the icons on the desktop. If so, then the LCD Inverter is bad.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can beany kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vgacable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves yourvideo card is ok. The video will show on most systems when you rebootwithout you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN(Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correctkey for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key willnormally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

If you see no icons by shinning a flash light and the external monitor works, then your screen is bad. If you see no icons by shinning the flash lightand nothing shows on the external monitor, then most likely your video card isbad.

No video at power up

See if the problem is the graphics chipset before going any further.

If it isn't then the problem lies with the Video Cable, (Gateway = LCD Cable), or the Display Assembly.

The heading states Gateway LT2104u Netbook PC. This is what I'll be basing the solution on. However the main part of the solution, will apply to all laptops/netbooks.

1) Laptop OFF, monitor OFF, connect a VGA monitor to the VGA port (Connector) on the Left side of the netbook.

[ External VGA display port.
This is an example of a VGA connector, (Port), and a VGA Cable,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector ]

The external VGA monitor can be a CRT type, (Cathode Ray Tube. Looks like a small TV), or a flat LCD screen monitor that has a VGA cable.

2) Turn the monitor on. If a CRT type allow it to warm up.
Turn the netbook on.

By default the display should be shown on the external monitor.
IF not;

A) Press, and hold down on the Fn key, and at the same time tap once on the F5 key.
(The Fn key is at the Bottom/Left of the Keyboard. The F5 key is at the Top of the Keyboard)

No display still?
There are at least 3 display options;

1) Internal monitor of the laptop ONLY
2) Internal monitor of the laptop AND external VGA monitor
3) External VGA monitor ONLY

You may have to hold down on the Fn key, and tap the F5 key more than once.

IF, NO display shows up on the external monitor, you have a bad graphics chipset.

[ Chip and Chipset are slang terms for I.C.
Integrated Circuit,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_circuit

The GPU is the graphics chipset,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPU

The GPU for a Gateway LT2104u Netbook PC is an Intel GMA950 ]

IF, display does show up on the external VGA monitor, you have either problems with the Video Cable, (LCD Cable), or the Display Assembly.

LCD Cable:

1) Connections;
The LCD Cable connects TO the motherboard, and TO the back of the LCD screen, in the Display Assembly.

IF, either connection is loose, you will have display problems.

Check both connections.
This requires partial disassembly of the netbook to access the motherboard side of the LCD Cable.

Also requires partial disassembly of the Display Assembly (Gateway = LCD Module) to access the connection at the back of the LCD screen.

2) Damage;
Observe the LCD Cable on the motherboard side. See if there are any obvious signs of damage to the LCD Cable's sheath.
The most susceptible area to damage is the area under the left Hinge.

However, the LCD Cable should be removed, and a continuity check of the cable should be performed with a multimeter, set to Ohms.

(By checking the connections, you are at a point anyway, that removing the LCD Cable should be no problem)

LCD Cable checks out OK?
LCD Module problem; (Display Assembly)

The LCD Module consists of the;
1) LCD Bezel,
2) Camera Module,
3) LCD Module Brackets, (Includes Hinges)
4) Microphone Module,
5) Wireless 3G Antenna,
6) WLAN Antenna cables, (Wires),
7) LCD Screen Assembly,
8) LCD Module Cover.

Primer:
An LCD screen does not produce light. It needs an additional light source.
A Backlight is the additional light source.

A Backlight can be a CCFL, or a series of LED lights.
(CCFL = Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp. Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes, and businesses)

The Backlight for the Gateway LT21 series of Netbook PC's, is a series of LED lights.

There is no screen Inverter that is replaceable by the consumer.
The repair is to replace the entire LCD Module.

http://support.gateway.com/s/notebook/2009/gateway/lt/lt21/LT21sp4.shtml

To conclude:
If the problem isn't the graphics chipset, (Motherboard replacement), and it isn't the LCD Cable, the problem is the LCD Module.

Gateway LT21 series of Notebook PC's, Service Manual, (Free),

http://www.tim.id.au/blog/tims-laptop-service-manuals/#toc-gateway

Go to where it states Gateway 400. Drop down to the second line, (EC54), and scroll across to LT21 in blue.
Left-click on LT21.

This is a PDF file. The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files.
After you click on the file name (LT21) it may take up to 30 seconds, before the first page comes up.

{ You can save this Service Manual to your computer. This way you can burn it off to a CD disk, AND remove it from the computer to save harddrive space, and not have to temporarily download it again }

I have tried to fix my mini notebook but my screen is just blank,i cant even see the start menu..what can i do?

Hi, if you cannot see a display on your monitor, there are a few things you can do. The easiest and first thing you should do, is plug an external monitor into the VGA port on your netbook. That way, you will know if your computer is still working. Also, make sure the power lights are on when you turn the computer on. Next, you can try this. Find the function button that corresponds with one of the F# keys i.e. F4 or F8 that controls the LCD display. It will either say CRT/LCD or will have a picture of two monitors on it, something like that. Then, press the Function key (Fn) and that corresponding key at the same time and see if the display comes back. Press it once and wait a minute, if nothing happens press it again and do the same thing. Do it a few times. You may also have to do that when you plug in your external monitor as well to get a display on it. What that does is tell the computer to display the image on an external monitor.

I have connected my old dell laptop to this TV with VGA cable and audio cable and it worked with no problem. Have new Acer Aspire one netbook- connected to computer with same cables - can see windows...

First, you want to make sure the laptop's internal/external display mode is set properly. On Acer netbooks, this is usually changed by holding the "Fn" key, and pressing "F5". Either the TV or the computer display should flicker when you do this. There are 3 modes:

1 Computer only
2 TV Only
3 Computer and TV

If changing between thos emodes doens't work, continue on.

I am going to assume you are running Windows XP. Please correct me if I am wrong.

To display your desktop on an external monitor, you'll need to change/check some settings. Your netbook is most likely attempting to set it's display settings automatically, but it is expecting a computer display, not a television, so the resolutions and refresh rates are conflicting. That's why it will only display on one and not the other. Before Windows loads, the netbook is using a very low resolution,so it displays on the TV. Once Windows loads, it switches to some non-standard resolution that your TV cannot display and defaults back to your netbook screen.

The solution is to find a resolution that your television will display:

1.Right-click the desktop, and then click Properties.

2.In the DisplayProperties dialog box, click the Settings tab.

3.Click the Display list and select your external monitor (..the TV. It will most likely be display #2).

4.Select the Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor option.

5.Select 640x480 in the "Screen Reolution" section for Display #2.

6.Click Apply or OK.

Note: If you see the background change on your television, mmove your mous there to make sure it's working. If it DOES work, go back to the "Screen resolution" section for Display #2 and find the highest resolution your television will display
