Solution number 2 was not useful to my problem. My computer can't even recognize the usb port where it is plugged into. This happens on all computers - it goes unrecognizable! Any solutions to this besides throw this so called mp3 player out the window?

whenever i turn on my sansa m230 mp3 player, it displays the message, "not enough space for music DB, please free 8mb." And so i plug it into my friends computer and when i open the music folder on the device, its empty, even though it says that there is quite a bit of space used up. Do you have any answers?.

The Music DB refers to the Music Database, or the Artist, Album, and Song info.

The error means your device is too full. It needs some free space on the device to create this information.

Connect your device to the PC and manually delete some files from it in My Computer>Device Name (m240)>MUSIC Folder.

It needs 6MB of free space, so you may need to delete several songs.

Disconnect the device from the PC, it should restart and you should be ok. If the message continues, keep deleting files until its gone,

Best of Luck.

Not enough space for music db

Your device has too much music on it.

You need at least 8MB free in order for it to build the "database".

Connect the device to your computer, delete 10 songs, then re-start the player and you should be back to normal.

Best of Luck.

I received the same problem, I thought I had done a Sync by mistake and had used of all the space. I had to re-format the player and start over.
