Question about Gigabyte GA-945GZM-S2 Motherboard

1 Answer

My Gigabyte GA-945GZM-S2 motherboard is not detecting any CD/DVDROM attached to the ide port. it is also not detecting the rom in bios. cable and rom ate both working fine there have been tested on other machines. I believe the jumper setting is correct as the same is being detected when pluged on another machine. what could be the problem. I have a SATA HDD and it is being detected and working fine. only the cd/dvd rom has issues on detections

if your processor is 45nm arch, update your bios on fabricant site, only same model. (is a risk if the power goes out during the process). There are three versions, confirm before proceeding.

Try disconnecting and reconnecting the IDE and power cables to it. Make sure that the jumpers (if any) have the right setting on the rom drive. Make sure the power cord going to the drive is good and all the way in. When you are in the operating system, check with 'device manager' to see if its reading it at all, and if it tells you about any problems! (like 'driver not found', failed to start, etc.) (In windows you can get to device manager by going to 'Start menu> right click "My Computer"> select 'manage' from the drop down menu that pops up. On the tool window that opens up click on 'device manager' on the left pane, then search for your rom drive on the list that comes up.)
hope this helps!

Gigabyte 945 gzm s2 doesn`t recognize HDD Western Digital 320 GB

You might need to change your bios settings from ide to sata. Have you already checked the bios settings? If everything is in order you might have a bad board. What have you tried so far?
