Question about Culligan Sediment Water Filter

1 Answer

Water has been trickling to the drain for at least a couple of hours now, maybe longer. I just noticed it this morning. It's currently in regular run mode and not in regen mode. I put the valve to ''bypass'' and it stopped. Put it back into non-bypass mode and water started trickling to the drain again. Culligan Mark 100, model 01007347

There is a problem with the main piston/sealpack assembly and it needs to be replaced. You can get this kit at Culligan and replace it yourself, if you are handy, it takes about 20 minutes. Replace the refill piston at the same time. Or have Culligan do it.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
It is possible that the heater has been taking longer (and longer) than it should to heat the water to the correct temperature. This could be that the element is coated in calcium. I suggest you run the contents of a couple of sachets of proprietary limescale removing powder/fluid through it. The most efficient way is to put the contents in an empty washer and pour a kettle of hot water into the drum then leave overnight. In the morning run just a spin; the water mix will then go through the drain filter and drain motor impeller blades, doing absolutely NO harm whatsoever! Worth a try before having to call an engineer! In fact worth a couple of tries ;-0)
Good luck,
John C

I have the same problem. I was thinking that the water line is frozen. I unplugged it for a couple of hours, plugged it back in and water started trickling out. I'm going to adjust the temperature in the freezer so it is not so cold. Maybe that will help too. Thats about as far as I have gone for troubleshooting so far.

There is a problem with the piston/seal pack assembly pack in the valve. The seals get worn or some debris gets stuck and causes softener to run to the drain. The seal pack assembly needs to be replaced. If you are handy, you can do this. It takes about 1/2 hour for a novice.
Parts are only available from Culligan.

Water dispenser no longer dispenses water. Ice maker still works

Has it stopped completely or just slowed to a trickle. If a trickle you need to replace the filter. If stopped either the feed line to the fridge has been pinched/shut off or the internal line has frozen, or the valve is no longer functional.

Automatic Trickle Questions

o you multitask while you wait for the shower to get hot? Brush your teeth? Make the bed? Maybe even pick out your clothes or iron a collar? Many of us do—and don’t know that while we’re feeding the dog or grabbing that second cup of coffee, two-and-a-half gallons of hot water per minute are funneling down the drain. The automatic trickle reduces the flow of the water as soon as it reaches a comfortable 95 degrees. This way your hot water is no longer running down the drain while you’re away from the shower. The automatic trickle allows your showerhead to warm your shower without wasting hot water and tell you (hear) the when your shower is ready. 2 year old kenmore elite water leaking in freezer area

Does this happen when unit is in a defrost?? If so, sounds like the drain line is clogged. The hose and pan are located under the unit. You can access this by removing the cardboard back cover.Find the drain line tube.I'm sure the drain opening at the evaporater is iced over. You will have to unplug the unit and keep the doors open to defrost.(Removing product in unit will decrease defrost time.) Maybe an hour to an hour and a half.Could be longer!! Try using a wet/dry vac to clear.

Dryer heats but no condensing of steam

The cold water feeds for condenser cooling and for wash cycle drum fill are controlled by separate solenoid valves (manifolded together at the cold water inlet hose union). When the solenoid on my condenser coolant valve failed a couple of years back, I got symptoms like yours. A new pair of valves isn't expensive to buy and is a trivial job to fit. If this is what has been happening, suggest you also inspect the insides of your dryer fan and of the pump - neither of mine took really kindly to having been cooked for hours on end. Alastair.
