A simple test is plug in head phones and see if a table comes up telling you what sourse your sound is going to

not the best advice but its a start

good luck with it

The phone won't ring. How do I make it ring? I have gone to settings, sounds, ringer and alerts. When I click on that, the phone makes a ringing sound, but when calls come in, it is silent. Please...

Have you checked the switch on the top left of the phone?
That's the mute switch. Flip it in the Up position and that should fix your problem
If the phones ringing when you test the ringer in the settings, the ringer works. It's probably just muted..
I hope that helps...
Thank you

Absolutely no sound from the computer at all and yet the sound test says everything is working properely... have gone on the net to try to fix with no luck

did you check to see if the speakers are muted, Go to the little speaker icon in the tray (toward the right), left click on it and open the "mixer", you should be able to see if the sound is muted there. If it isn't muted, try plugging in some earphone and play some music or something you know works on your computer. If you hear sound from the earphones, then you know your sound fuction is ok and that the problem may be the spearkers ( if this is a laptop, you could still have a spearer problem, but more difficult to fix) hope this helps.

I have sound but no picture? What should I check or fix?

When you are having sound problems with a television you check the settings first then the connections and then the devices before concluding that the television need repair.

The quickest thing to do first is check all the devices and inputs where you have things connected to your television. For example try cable on input 1--no sound. Ok next try the DVD player on input 2--sound. If there is sound on one input and not another then that will rule out the television needing to be repaired. Granted there may be something wrong with the one input that has no sound but that is rarely the case.

Ok if there is no sound on any of the inputs and with any of the devices then check your settings. Make sure the television is not muted (I'm sure you have already done that) and check the volume bar going up and down with the remote or volume button. Make sure that your television is set for audio to come out of it and not for audio to come out of a stereo system. There is usually a setting asking whether or not you want to mute the audio on the television all the time because you're connecting it to a stereo system. The setting might be audio output select fixed (audio comes out of the tv) or variable (audio is muted all the time because you're connecting a stereo system). There may also be a reset all under the audio settings and an overall reset all, which will restore your television to the factory settings. That will normally work if nothing else if wrong with the television. Instead of a reset all from the menu sometimes a television will have a reset button or hole that can be depressed with a ball point pen.

You can also check the cables you have connected between your television and the devices because they might have gone bad. You can either try brand new cables or grab/borrow a set from another one of your televisions just for troubleshooting.

Also you can connect your device(s) to another television to see if you get sound on it.

Auto muting on when on am/fm and no sounds come out. everything else is fine.

That's normal.

The Auto Muting mode mutes the audio output of the tuner if the station is not sufficciently strong to be accurately tuned. Otherwise you would hear all that interstation hash noise.

Press the FM Mode button to change it to Mono if you want to manually tune a hard-to-reach station. It will be in Mono.

Page 26:

AUTO MUTING
Normally select this.
When a program is broadcast in stereo, you will hear stereo sound; when in monaural, you will hear monaural sound.
This mode is also useful to suppress static noise between stations. The AUTO MUTING indicator lights up on the display.

Everything works fine on the unit no problem until

3. If your Nuvi has a FM transmitter, is it selected to "FM" or "Speaker"? The "FM" setting will mute the internal speaker. Setting it to "Speaker" will send sound to the speaker.

if this side of it works then the FM transmitter is faulty

Check that the sound has not been MUTED

plug the earphone into the socket to see if any sound is heard. The socket is also a switch that takes sound from internal speaker to ephone and reverse.
If no sound is hear in either FM or normal mode your unit is faulty and needs repair
