Are you cleaning the area that contains the springs also and if so I would use something like a dry lubricant so that it won't attract more dust and dirt but we both know that eventually it will. Coat the posts with this and allow to dry and then push up and down on the motor to lube the bushings and you might have to do it again. You can also try a small amount of 3 in 1 oil but use sparingly.

SOURCE: Reciprocating saw armature removal

usually there is a screw in the diaphragm to hold that assembly tight. You need to remove the brushes first and you might need to GENTLY pry the diaphragm from the motor housing. Then using a soft blow hammer tap the armature out of the plate. I would recommend replacing the bearings and brushes when doing the armature. Let me know if you need more assistance.

My Ryobi ap-10 planer is completely apart. I am replacing a bearing. I cannot get the housing apart from the armature. Do I need to remove the brush holder? How? Any suggestions.

Usually a screw on each side of armature housing holds the brushes in place. Unscrew and a spring should pop out so be careful: it (spring) holds the brushes against armature for electrical contact.

I have my ryobi planer completely apart to replace bearings but cannot get the housing off of the armature. Do I need to remove the brush holder? How? Any suggestions.

Well, you've probably already done it but make sure you HAVE removed the motor brushes. Usually hidden under a couple of plastic plugs that unscrew. That releases the commutator. The motor should then slide out. Depending on exactly which Ryobi planer you have be aware that sometimes there's a sticker on the end of the motor that actually hides a circlip or other holding device. Good luck!

Be careful about putting the armature in a vice. Clamping it tight enough to pull a bearing may damage it. Now, if you have access to the first bearing, get a small bearing puller of this style http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WMR-W84551?seid=srese2 This is just an example to show what type should work. If there is not room for this, then there are other pullers made that have arms that will fit within the 1/8" clearance you have.

On the pulley, if it is a nut holding it on, then a regular socket will work. As stated be careful clamping the armature so as not to damage it. I would take a block of wood, say a scrap pc of 4x4 and bore a hole through it with a hole saw that closely matches the diameter of the armature. Cut it in half long ways, removing enough material so that when you use it to clamp the armature, the two half circle wood pcs don't touch. That way, it spreads the clamping force around a little more of the diameter of the armature.

If the actual pulley is threaded, then clamp the same way and you may have to rig something. Are there holes or slots in the pulley that a spanner wench would work on? There are several universal/adjustable spanner wrenches available for that type of thing. Check to make sure there is not a set screw in the hub of the pulley that keeps it locked from turning. A photo of this would make it easier to make suggestions.

Bosch demolition hammer bearings are ceased up, how can I remove it properly to replace?

Ok here goes. Purchase or use the bearing cover nut 3613461500 that you have taken from the base of the machine. and drill a 6mm hole in it. remove the armature from the machine and measure how far the end of the armature sticks out of the bearing. then fit the cover nut onto the bearing holder and whilst supporting the cover nut use a puller or press to press the armature off the bearing through the cover nut. Replace the bearing in the holder and press the bearing and holder back onto the armature until the amount of armature shaft showing is to the same distance that measured in the first place. Hope this helps.

How do i remove the engine from the armatuer

You have to remove the 4 bolts that holds the generator unit together. Some generators have a center cap which you have to remove to expose the long bolt that holds the armature on to the engine. Then remove where the end of the generator mounts to the frame it is sitting on. Loosen up the engine mounts and prop the generator end up slightly by putting a block of wood between where the engine and generator end housing come together. You have to unloosen the center bolt which holds the armature on to the engine. Do not take it out yet just loosen it and whith a block of wood against it hit the wood with a hammer to loosen the armature from the engine because it is on a tappered shaft. Make sure after you hit the wood on the bolt that the bolt is still loose or you have to loosen it a little more. After the armature loosens up you should loosen the bolt and remove it. You should be able to pull the rotar and stator away from the engine and with a punch tap where the armature goes in to the bearing and push it out.
