Where can I find out how to remove programs from my computer to free space?

I am at D: free space 16% and C: free space 93%, I need more space, and I do not use all the stupid programs that came with this computer. Where can I get instructions and help to remove programs I don't need or use with out affecting my computer?

Actually it is C: that is at 16% free space, and D: that has 93% free space.

The last time I deleted programs, it screwed up my computer and I had to do a recovery.

All my programs came installed on my computer. I don't have any disks for the programs.

This was a really was a way for them to save money not me. I will have to pick up some CD's so I can copy the programs to CD before moving them.

Ok lets start by getting ccleaner from filehippo.com ... install it and use the cleaner function ... next goto the control panel and add/remove programs ... you have lots of free space on your c but hardly any on your d ... is d full with your installed programs or just your files?... if its installed programs you need to uninstall some and reinstall onto your c drive ... if its files you can just start moving stuff over to folders on c

How do i go to drive c

Click Start, then Computer. It will show you how much free space you have on your C: drive. All "hard drives" need at least 25% free space to operate efficiently.
Run CCleaner and see how much space it frees up.
If the C drive is still short on space, you will need to uninstall any programs you no longer need, and delete any files you no longer need.

My pc 2500k with 3.30 ghz and motherboard intel DH67CL but works slow

The symptom you describe is too vague, but you can try the following tune-up procedures. First, download and install and run Malwarebytes free version. This will root out any bad stuff/malware/virus. Next, download and install the excellent free utility program called CCleaner from Majorgeeks.com or Download.CNET.com. Run CCleaner to remove tons of junk files that may be slowing your computer. Next, if you have a regular spinning hard drive, run Defragmenter in Windows. Be patient with all of these tune-ups i've mentioned - they may take a while! Next, if your computer has less than 4GB of RAM memory consider adding more memory. Finally, give your system a serious speed boost by adding an SSD (solid state drive). These days you can buy a 240GB SSD for as little as $89 or a 120GB SSD for around $69. Use free software from the SSD maker's website to "clone" your tuned-up Windows onto the new SSD. Keep the old drive for storing data or for installing programs that you don't use often or that won't fit onto the SSD. Then prepare to be amazed at how responsive your system is.

This will give you minimal free space. Try F3 and do a blank search sort by size and look for files not needed. Like movies and waves.

1. I suggest backing up only important personal data and formating & reloading the original (prefered oem xp for example) or any upgraded os you have access to eith software or some computers have a recovery process on the hard drive ( hit f X to start recovery process) this will clean all the junk off & give you back your original speed only install what programs / data needed use a good antivirus such as avast and antispyware such as defender from windows

One possible work around
Provided you have access to another PC and feel comfortable with taking your hard drive out of your PC and putting it back in

1. buy a USB external hard drive enclosure and install your hard drive into it
2. connect this USB hard drive to another PC
3. create some free space by deleting some files (see Safe files to delete below for details)
4. reinstall hard drive back into your PC and try to boot normally

Safe files to delete
1. temporary files - on Win XP these are normally in "C:\WINDOWS\Temp"
2. temporary internet files - on Win XP these are normally in "C:\Documents and Settings\[Your Username]\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files"
3. other temporary files - on Win XP these are normally in "C:\Documents and Settings\[Your Username]\Local Settings\Temp"
Note that if you have more than one user account on the PC, then each user could have files that are safe to delete in the folders mentioned in number 2 and 3
