Hi the symptoms are the green lite comes on, and you hear some clicking and the hi voltage whine, but the screen is completely black. no lines, no flicker, nothing. the only other numbers i found is a sticker that says "renewed 070000448100" other than that just the model and serial number. I see no chassis number and have had the back off and everything.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

hi look at the back of the tv, to see if you can see a light, if so the inverter is working, if you can't you will need a tech to test the tv's power supply, for voltages, you need 24 volts going to the inverter hope it helps
The power supply board is dead, do you know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
normally color crt tvs have three guns such as red green and blue. when the voltage at the cathode any of these guns go to zero that color will lead in the screen.
in ur case the green cathode voltage is low. that's why the is green on all over the screen.
if it suddenly came then there is a possibility of dry soldering in the pcb behind the picture tubes neck. we called it as base board. which consist of three transistor or one ic for cotrolling cathode voltage of the guns .
if u have a soldering iron the open ur tv and try to re-solder components in the base board. mainly the component with three leg ( if transistor). if there is ic it will have more than 6 legs . if you can try to re-solder all the points. Be care-full that dot make short circuit when soldering. after care full soldering power on the tv and watch the scree. you problem Will solved.
if u need any further assistance from me, feel free to contact me through fixya.
This tv is under five years old?Yes,it is worth fixing.Over five,i would compare the prices for a new LCD tv and the quote priced from the Tv Tech.for the old tv.This tv have high voltage problems around the Deflection circuitries area.Could be any things burn in this area. The high pitched whine sound,i'm sure it is from the FBT-the high voltages flyback transformer, high voltages current have no where to go.Must hire a tv tech. to troubleshoots and replace parts on the Deflection circuitries area. Also the FBT could be dead too, because HV Current bounces back forth and have no where else to go.The prices to troubleshoot unknown problems is about $400 bucks and plus cost of replacement of parts.
Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. It's major symptoms are clicking, electrical sounds, shuts off and on and get the lamp indicator. This is the most common failure ,what happens is that the ballast was providing lesser voltage to the old lamp the newer one takes more voltage. You will need to replace it,you can find your part on discount-merchant or partstore.com good luck and God bless!
Hi,if your tv is 2-4 yrs and have not replaced the lamp it might be time to replace it.Do you hear clicking noises and have replaced lamp before it could be the board that powers the lamp its called the ballast. You can find original philips lamp in here : http://www.discount-merchant.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=XL2100+?Click=48173 Have a blessed day!
If you do not hear anything trying to come on, no fans, or relays clicking, you probably have a Thermal Fuse that has opened. Do to the dis-assembly that is required to replace it I recommend you have a qualified Service person come out to verify the symptom and repair the set. If that is what it is I estimate 400.00 or less to repair the set.
I hope this helps
It could possibly be something in the deflection circuits. Exactly what are the symptoms when you try to power up the set? Have you tried to see if you can locate the Chassis number of your set, As a philips/magnavox is almost impossible to diagnose without that chassis number as all service info is crossed by chassis number.
If you dont here anything then it sounds like the switching power supply or the horizontal output circuits not starting up. this requires troubleshooting with a variac, as well as maybe a scope. If your not trained to work on HI Voltage circuits you should seek assistance with this repair. Theres HI voltage inside these sets even after they are unplugged for a while. sorry i couldnt be of more assistance.
