Question about Intel D845GVSR Motherboard

Hello. My hp pavilion 7955 has been running slow (motherboard)

Hello. My hp pavilion 7955 has been running slow lately. While inspecting the motherboard i noticed that the 1.5 by 2 inch silver block located near the centre of my board had detached and is now held by only 2 metal clips. I tried attaching it back but the other 2 clips end up popping off. Also looks like an adhesive was used to help hold the block to the motherboard. Is there any products or solutions to re-attach it on my own? Any help is much appreciated. thx

From your description the square aluminium block is the heat sink that has thermal paste on the bottom of the heat sink. It is not an adhesive that helps hold the heat sink on the CPU. This is placed (clipped) over the CPU to keep the CPU from overheating.
When the clips are attached properly, it holds the heat sink and fan firmly against the CPU.
There are recesses that hold the clips in place unless they are broken.

Computer won't start The voltage switch on the power supply was accidently changed to 230. Is it fixable

Most likely not, the power source is dead, replace it. It's a standard ATX source, any 400W one you can buy from all IT shop will do.

HP Pavilion 7955 main HD failed; my data is on second drive (Maxtor ATA/EIDE) - still good. I want to install this as a second drive in Dell Optiplex 620 which has SATA main drive. The only IDE cables are...

Most IDE cables have THREE connectors:
* one to the motherboard
* one to the "primary" device (CD/DVD or disk-drive)
* one to the "secondary" device (disk-drive or CD/DVD)

If your IDE cable only has TWO connectors, buy a cable with THREE connectors, and connect your disk-drive to the third connector.

Go to control panel and add new hardware. If the computer does not see it, check the cables and then consider purchasing a new cdr/rw
