Question about Washing Machines
My Maytag Washer Model MAV5920EWW won't sping during any cycles.
It does try, but a loud banging noise occurs then it immediately stops.
Is this a brake issue?
Machine is 2 years old.
Thanks for your help.
I think the problem may be it is clogged up with lint and stuff or possibly a bad transmission.
To see if it is clogged you need to open the top by using a butter knife to release the 2 latches, remove the agitator and drum. If you see lots of lint or soap scum inside the plastic liner you need to remove that and then re assemble.
If the agitator will turn during the wash but not during the spin (after you clean it out) it likely is a bad transmission. (Tilt the machine up and set a paint can or similar size object under the front and turn the belt either way to verify from under the washer ... but first unplug the washer so it will not start on you and take a finger off).
