Try this.. might help...remove the left catridge....turn off the printer... then using a cloth or cotton lightly moistened with alcohol or water, clean the surface of electrical contacts of the catridge(do not try to touch the contacts with your finger)... then return it back carefully...turn on the printer and try to print. If that didn't work.. suggest you replace the left catridge with new one... if you are refilling ink try to avoid touching the electrical contacts.

Caution: Electrical hazard. Keep hand and metal pieces clear of board or any other electrical wires or parts.

NOTICE: The ink cartridges are all the way to one end. If the X4270 is plugged in, the cartridge carrier is stuck and doesn't move. After further investigation a noticeable small black plastic lever is preventing the ink cartridges from moving. Photo below shows lever up and down (cartridges already moved in image below).

9. Lift the front cover open (if not already open) and plug in the X4270. Cartridges should move to center as if preparing for replacement.

10. Unplug the X4270 and remove power supply.

Hp 7280 all in one. Magenta ink (all new) does not work. Test print shows good cartridges and plenty of ink.

Mostly, printer cartridge error occurs when the printer head is unable to identify the cartridge properly. And the basic reason behind this is that the cartridge is improperly attached. To reattach the cartridge, turn on the lid of the printer and then remove the cartridge from the printer head. Check the cartridge to make sure that there are no scratches or other damaged parts that can contribute to a printer cartridge error report. Take note that the cartridge should not be left open for more than 30 minutes; otherwise the ink will start to dry up and the cartridge will get clogged.

Printer (HP5650) has full ink cartridges.window sez almost empty

That is normal, the printer "sees" the cartridges by their serial number, so when you pop in a refilled cartridge, the printer thinks you have put in old cartridges and continue to show low ink level. When you pop in a new one, with a new serial code, the ink level will reset, showing that the cartridges are full again.
You can try this:
1. Open printer lid so cartridges move to center of carriage.
2. Lift clamp and remove black or color cartridge from the holder.
3. Place cartridge on table with copper contact strip facing you.
4. Carefully place a strip of clear plastic tape over the four contacts on the upper left corner of the cartridge.
5. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position.
6. Open lid and remove cartridge again. Remove tape from left side and place tape over four contacts at upper right corner of cartridge.
7. Reinstall cartridge in printer and close lid. Wait until cartridge returns to parking position again.
8. Open lid again, remove cartridge, remove tape.
9. Reinstall cartridge and close lid.
Printer will now recalibrate. Once the process is complete the ink level meter should be reading full again.
Doesn't always work, but you can try.

After installing re-filled ink cartridges, both color and back & white, the printer message that shows ink level still shows low level ink? How do we resolve?

Hello,

Try this procedure:

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Black cartridge problem

Try the steps mentioned in the link bellow:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01091133&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=1141647

If it still does the same then the printer is not detecting the ink catridge, the printer might have to be replaced.

Good Luck

Checked print cartridge but still flashing error

I am assumming both new cartridge seal tapes have been removed. I know it sounds like I'm being rediculous but you'd be amazed how may we get into the shop each week that this is the problem. :)

There is a known issue in this model and similar printers that causes a lot of them to fail. A spring tension wire that holds the cartridge in place in the cartridge housing breaks out of its clips where it hinges. If left unchecked it causes the wire to move back and puncture the flex cable that makes contact with the cartridge. There's a photo below that shows the wire broken loose and a photo that shows the resulting damage when left unchecked. If this is the issue, unfortunately the printer is not repairable as the parts aren't sold by HP.

Hope this helps you. If not conntact me back and I'll try and walk you through a couple other things to check.

Only one colour showing at time of print

Maybe the ink well nozzle area has some dried ink left from the old cartridge. Remove the new cartridge carefully, and using a wet Q-tip,clean the area. Replace back the new black cartridge.
This worked for me ....good luck !
