Smudged checks with Versajette m300

I have smudges on all my printed checks. I have tried wetting the head and running several sheets of paper before I do the checks but it still happens. I shake the head and all the other things G7 has suggested. I even bought another cartridge--same challenge. The printer was free but I have a cartridge in the closet that I paid big money for.

Splotchy, smudgy...the printers aren't worth the price it cost to ship them! Tey are Lexmark printers, I believe, and I wonder if they can be fixed. It seems really discouraging that they don't work and so many of us have such bad luck with them. There must be a fix!

I would try the Lexmark ink, but I am using and wanted to continue using the MICR cartridge so the bank would not have challenges with my printed checks.

DONT TRY THE LEXMARK CARTRIDGE! It doesn't work with this printer. Save your money or you'll be like me with a useless cartridge laying around.

I use this printer for church documents and with much prayerk, the Lord has graciously allowed it not to smudge when printing church documents so far. Other documents do smear occasionally. Same problem as you all have.

Got the printer "free"... it ran the first few checks fine but after about 10, we've had nothing but problems.... the paper gets grabbed and pulled sideways, the ink is smeared on the top of the checks... thought at first we were running out of ink (already?) but the print on the rest of the check is fine, just top line(s) smudgy, when we can get the paper to go in straight. (set it in slightly crooked and pray!)... not worth hand pampering each check constantly... we're probably going to get a new (different) printer.... would like to use up this ink if we can take it that long!

Buy a cheap $100 Laserjet printer. I had the same problem w/ my Vesajette 300v8 and there was nothing I could to to fix the piece of s&@!. They wouldn't replace it, so I did. Checks can be printed on a std laser printer and accepted by the banks as they are read w/ optical scanners. MICR inks aren't mandatory, just a recomendation by the Federal Reserve to add a level of security to the checks. I have had no problems with my checks being accepted by the banks using the laser printer and standard toner ink. My checks are'nt in color anymore, but they do look awesome and look very crisp and professional. No more smudges, YAY!!

I purchased a refill color cartridge for this printer. It would not even accept it. For some reason the smudging stopped. I now have a MICR cartridge in my closet. My color is empty. I have a color coming from G7. I will use up the MICR cartridge and then I am bagging this printer. I can't get it to load on Vista with tech support help even. They threw in the towel on me and won't even answer my requests anymore. I have an old XP hooked up and I run over to it when I want to print checks. Totally ridiculous. I don't recomend these printers or the tech support at this time. They won't speak with me directly. Emails go on and on, then I wind up with a big mess and they stop answering my emails.

Good luck everyone.

Lexmark Z1300 ink cartridges are the same as the ones for Versajette M300 because Lexmark makes the printer. It might be worth while trying this ink cartridge to see if it solves our problem! I know that Staples and some of the other stores sell a generic version of the Lexmark ink cartridge so even trying that would be better than continuing with this mess from G7!

5x7 inch paper moves towards end of print and black ink smudges edge of paper

Check for any small paper jam. Check the rollers, also use an alcohol swab to clean the rollers and check for ink leaking. Check you ink pad, it could be time for a new one.

I am getting white specks on all four colors on my phaser 8500 and some black smudges. I just did a smudge clean and it helped, but it didn't clear it.

Hello.

Try a laser printer roller cleaner (paper sheets), like PathKleen or Perfect Data. You may need to run sheets through several times before the cleaning is complete. Do not use a sheet more than once.

Hope this helps.

There are black ink smudges on the bottom corners and edges of my color prints on velvet fine art paper. How can I stop that from happening. I already cleaned the heads twice. The prints are great...

The R2400 has an option to load paper on-top (Epson calls it the Automatic Document Feeder) and at the back. Based on the printer's User Guide the Velvet Fineart Paper should be loaded at the back. (Epson called is the Manual Single Sheet Feed).

Look at the User's Guide availabe on their website.

Smudging when printing photos, but not colour textprinting

(1) Most photopaper is made to be printed on one side only. Check to see that you are printing on the correct side. (2) You mention new cartridges. Are they the same brand as cartridges you've used before? If they're a different brand, you may want to try whatever worked before.

Blue color smears on every page

If you're still getting smudges, there must still be a label or part of a label either on one of the image drums or the transfer belt, i've found in the past it somethings gets stuck inside the unit on the cleaning blade. What i suggest is you run a print and open the front door at the paper travels along the transfer belt, look at all the image drums and see if you can see the smudge on one of them, if so the problem is caused by that cartridge if not it's in the transfer belt somewhere. You may need to try stopping the printer a few times and if the problem is in one of the cartridges, you will mst likely have to replace it, as with the transfer belt if you think that's causing the problem it's easier to remove it and rotate the belt manually.

Please note the image drums and the transfer belt are all light sensative

VersaJette m300c printer smudges

I am having the same challenge with the smudging. I get the wet the print cartridges but that doesn't work. I have to run some documents through which wastes the ink. I am totally disappointed with this printer. I tried Canon when they had that one as a special deal. I ran through 3 or 4 heads and Canon said not to use the MICR ink. Makes no sense to me. G7 won't respond to me anymore. I now have a Vista and it looks like that will be a challenge and I have an ink cartridge sitting in my closet for this dang thing. How disappointing is this.
