the pink wire is the switch wire for the parking brake which shuts the unit of whilst the parking brake is disengaged, if its disconnected then that should make the unit work all the time. Check for loose wires on the red and yellow cables, also check the in-line fuse holder isn't loose.
1 take a toggle switch 12 volt dc and 20 amps
2 take the pink wire attach the wire to the top terminal of the toggle switch
3 take the bottom terminal and attach a black wire to it and ground the other side of wire you must have a good ground ...
then once this is done test the switch turn on dvd it a video and flip the switch up and down a couple of time to simulate the parking brake and the video should work ...
if this doesnt work email me and ill give you the relay diagram to connect a relay inline to activate video but im pretty sure it will ...
Ok what you gotta do is connect the pink e-brake wire with the black wire that is already connected to the radio as the grounding.

For your first question. You need to ground the parking wire. I wouldn't bet money on it but I think it is either a pink or a green wire. You just need to figure out which one is the parking wire and ground it. You can go even further and hide a switch so that if the pigs see you, you can flip a switch and they won't know.
I hope this helped.
