Yaa HP don't have driver supporting XP. You need to go your audio manufacturer's site and dounload driver from there.

Ok...go here, find the HP icon, and get a set of device drivers for your model number..they are unique to your computer, not the o/s

I have the above system - HP Pavilion dv9933cl. Came with Vista. I scrapped this, flattened the drive and upon attempting to install XP Pro...am dealing with the "hard drive not found". Been searching and...

The newer systems do have to have drivers for everything. The best way to do this is to reinstall Vista, it has a hard drive manager built in and you can cut the hard drive in half or cut it as big or as asmall as you want. Then install XP on the second half install a boot up manager and have two systems on one computer, this is how i did mine. I used Vista till I got My Xp running like I wanted and I use Vista very little now.

Recently got this machine from my daughter who got a new machine. Re formatted hard drive, installed XP, working great, but after about a week, I lost the sound. Any ideas?

1) we will 1st go to device manager and check the drivers
2) check if the mute is checked of unchecked

3) if the driver is not there in device manager then we will go and install the sound drivers from HP.COM

4) we need to check the os if it came with vista of xp
if vista then u have downgraded the os.then it can be the issue with compatablity

5) if it was working after installing xp if sound was there then we can do system recovery

6)
we can do recovery(last option)
